Slythfarn, the Master Wizard, is dead! Having no reason left to impersonate him, Merleawe is relieved of her duties. But returning to normal life doesn't sit well with Mel. So on her school's break, she travels to the city where Slythfarn was last seen, where she discovers the untimely cause of his demise—though his remains are nowhere to be found. Later, after Merleawe catches up with all the friends she left behind, she realizes that there may be a thing or two she can accomplish as a wizard in her own right...
Mel needs to re-adapt to life outside the castle. There's school, going back home, realizing that "home" is too small now... It really didn't have anything to do with the previous volumes.
It has been a year since Mel left the country side and began living in Viegald's castle as Master Wizard Sylthfarn, but with the recent knowledge of Sylthfarn's death the Kingdom no longer has need of someone to pose as the Master Wizard, considering it is safe to assume that the real one will never be coming back. Even though Mel now has her cherished ordinary life back, is that what she truly wants? Will she ever be able to forget those warm and adventurous days in the castle?
This volume was another letdown. After everyone finds out that the master wizard has died, Mel doesn't need to impersonate him anymore. She then becomes a normal citizen looking to find what her true purpose is. This volume felt like it rambled a lot, and while a lot of the characters were sad, it just sort of seemed like Mel was leaving them for an arbitrary reason, especially when we all know this story will have a happy ending. Everything is just too predictable at this point.
I have not had much time for reading recently (uni dissertation!), so I've been reading more manga than usual as I find I can get through one in about 20-30 minutes.
This is the fifth book in this series, and I have to say the story really started to pick up in this book and made me interested in the story again! By the time I finished it I was desperate for the 6th book!
Nothing special. There was a lot of everyone being sad and upset and Mel wandering around trying to find purpose in life, repeatedly finding it and then for some reason still searching.
From secrets to disguises to normal life. Mel knows nothing other than the secret how does she go back into being a normal wizard student from all of that at once. It shows that the addjustment is hard on her.
