From Fable to Grave is the 19th book in the Secrets of Castleton Manor Library cozy mystery series. There are several authors for the series but you wouldn't know it. Each book covers a different genre and in this book it focuses on American Literature in the 19th Century. Charlotte and her son Wolfe Jaxon open up Castleton Manor to literary retreats. Faith Newberry is the librarian. Two of the guests don't get along and one of them ends up dead. On top of that, things turn up missing. I guessed both storylines for the.most part but I wasn't sure until the end.. Faith belongs to Candle House Book Club along with her Aunt Eileen and best friends Brooke and Midge. The book club along with Faith's cat Watson track down clues. Faith and Wolfe are slowly becoming closer friends. With Wolfe being Faith's boss it could get complicated. The characters in this series are wonderful and although the relationship between Faith and Wolfe is very slow, the books are very enjoyable. #FromFableToGrave #SecretsOfCastletonManorLibrary
A friend (AC) started me reading this series. I took a break after the first 10 books but now have been reading the ones after that in the series. This book's retreat is 19th Century Literature but seems to mostly focus on Mark Twain and Bret Harte (with mention of a few other authors).
I was looking forward to the Mark Twain impersonator and was sorry that part was cut short. I did guess what happened with all the shiny objects before it was revealed. I also guessed the hiding place before it was revealed (though not as long before as I did with the prior event).
Watson's help did not feature as much in this book as it did in the prior couple books. I thought Wolfe and Faith had already settled the question he asks her at the end, so that scene felt out of place to me.
