Marta Perry is a Pennsylvania-based author of over 35 novels, many of them inspirational romances. She uses her rural Pennsylvania life and her Pennsylvania Dutch heritage in writing her books, especially in her Pleasant Valley Amish series for Berkley Books and her new Amish-set suspense series for HQN Books.
Marta and her husband live in a centuries-old farmhouse in a quiet central Pennsylvania valley. They have three grown children and six beautiful grandchildren, and when she's not busy writing her next book, she's usually trying to keep up with her gardening, baking for church events, or visiting those beautiful grandkids.
Nice story. The only things that knocked this to a 4 star instead of a 5 was: 1. There were lots of grammatical errors, and that bugged me. 2. The story VERY abruptly comes to an end. I won’t spoil anything but this feels like it could have used a few more chapters.
Other than those 2 things I genuinely enjoyed this one.
Dorcas' sons find a girl asleep in their barn! It's her cousin's daughter, Katie. After her cousin's passing, Katie had went to leave with her Uncle Jacob. Soon Jacob us there to get Katie, but Katie doesn't want to go back! Will Dorcas help these two? Will she find love again? Will Jacob let go of his past to find love?
When Jacob Unger arrives to retrieve his runaway niece, Amish widow Dorcas Bitler sees the conflict between the pair and suggests an arrangement. The teen will stay with her for awhile to give them a much needed break. Only Jacob's frequent visits and and Dorcas's attraction aren't planned. Good book.
This was my first book by Marta Perry, and my first book about the Amish.
I really enjoyed the family dynamics and the acceptance of a man from a different community. I loved the tight knit community and all of the characters.
I look forward to reading more of Marta Perry's books.
This is a great inspirational romance story with great messages about family, faith, and what is most important. It's also about guilt, which can keep one from growing and moving forward, and it includes great lessons that one can glean from.
Another excellent book in this series! I hate this series to come to an end! I hope Ms Perry would consider extending the series...the characters have become like family and friends to me!
