This book of poems made me think and it made me feel. Some things I really didn’t want to feel and didn’t feel like feeling. I think that means it hit me in a deep spot which says more than enough about this book. Thanks Noor.
nothing teaches better than this trio the fears, the tears, the years
{the golden trio}
when you fall do it gloriously collapse like a glass building sink like a gigantic ship and when you’re done sinking and collapsing and sinking and collapsing build yourself with your wreckage
the most beautiful thing in this world isn’t made up of particles. it’s the strength of a person who has seen the collapse of their world, everything they held dear crashing down in a million pieces. yet every morning, they wake up and build their life, all over again. mourning their loss in a tranquil silence. i haven’t yet seen anything more astonishingly beautiful.
home murmurs where have you been? and i can’t help but say away; looking for you
someday something will go terribly, utterly, horribly wrong one day everything will be fine
our lives swing between that one day and some day
so why do you worry about it everyday
i am fighting my losses trauma and everything bringing ache because i don’t want to look in the mirror and see a tragedy staring back
Some poems will. Touch your heart some will keep you hanging there, I couldn't relate to alot of the poems bcz of idk maybe I wasn't at the spot, but I'll recommend you to read this book because of the lyrical words which was used in yesterday i was the moon , This book explores a variety of themes including art, people, home, courage, self-love, strength, culture, acceptance and survival.
The actual layout of the book was stunning. There were the beautiful poems paired with incredible black and white photographs. This made the book feel more personal and almost like a journal.
The poems themselves resulted in me feeling speechless and in complete awe. I would read this book again simply due to its beauty and how emotional these poems are.
Noor talks about women, broken families, traumas, how healing works. The comparison of the human bodies with cities, skyscrapers is very fresh and poetic. The book is written in simple English, and so, it’s extremely beginner friendly. Easy read just for the sake of it.
I wanted to love this so much but I just couldn’t get drawn in. The poems were so short and simple. As a minority, I did love the content focus but felt the execution could have better.
Some lovely poems and accompanying illustrations. I found the nature of some of the poems and the language to be too simplistic. Overall, lovely wee book and very aesthetically pleasing.
