The Hunt Begins After the brazen attack on Fairimor Palace by the Hand of the Dark, the allied nations of the Nine Lands begin preparations for a prolonged war against the refleshed dreadlord Throy Shadan. Even now, his army is poised to enter Kelsa with enough shadowspawn to ravage the entire nation. But word has come from the south of the discovery of a lost Temple of Elderon which contains a Blood Orb of Elsa, a talisman powerful enough to heal a dying world. With his friends at his side, Jase Fairimor undertakes a dangerous and desperate journey to retrieve the Talisman before it can fall into the hands of the enemy. In Trian, Elison Brey continues his war against the Con'Kumen, determined to eradicate their dark brotherhood from the ancient city, while the traitor Zeniff plots Elison's assassination and the overthrowing of the kingdom. Meanwhile, Croneam Eries enlists the help of the Gifted who have been drawn out of hiding by the crowning of Fairimor Dome with Fire. Led by a handful of Dymas who survived the Battle of Greendom, these noble warriors move eastward to engage Shadan's armies in an attempt to hold them back long enough for the Fairimors to fulfill their mission. But there is danger even in success, for Jase's earlier misuses of the Power have him nearing the realm of the Agla'Con. Jase Fairimor, powerful and chosen, is now the Earthsoul's greatest hope, and its greatest threat. Brilliantly conceived, with more than six thousand years of history, The Earthsoul Prophecies is a magnificent tale of a dying world's struggle for survival and an insightful look into mankind's proven capacity for good and evil.

Hmmm. Second locally written series in a week where I read and enjoyed the 2nd book more than the first. Maybe the writers improve...and maybe part of it is that I am already familiar and invested with the the characters.

The action and intrigue were fun. This one moved along with lots of action and really was not afraid to have major characters jump into battle that I had not suspected would in this book. It seemed less cheesy, though it certainly was at least a little melodramatic. I wonder if Daris really will haunt anyone. The climactic scenes in the book were believable and action-filled. I'm actually quite anxious to read the 3rd and find out how things resolve.

It's bugging me less, but there really are a LOT of concepts borrowed from the Wheel of Time Series. Also some Shannara overlap and the way to heal the Earthsoul is a lot like Frodo's quest to Mt. Doom with the ring. It's different...but a lot of parallels.

Awesome Continuation of a great saga!

Often the middle books in a multi-book saga focus so much on building the story arcs that they fail to be self contained enough to enjoy reading on their own.

This second book accomplishes both well, with awesome conflict, climax and enough resolution to make you glad you read the book, while still leaving enough threads open to make you anxious to read the next book.

I know Greg, and resisted my son's urging to read them, merely because I thought, "How good can they be? It's just my kid's high school teacher"

WOW was I wrong! They are a fantastic hidden gem which should be on the reading list of everyone who loves fantasy! Greg is an excellent writer who makes a rich and diverse world that you fall in love with.

Greg Park is a wonderful author (who happens to also be my cousin), and in both Cleansing Hunt and Veil of Darkness tells an epic story of a young man that is caught up in events that are shaping the world he lives in. Greg weaves a wonderful plot that has at its center a person with the potential to tip the balance of power between the forces of good and evil. These great books are highly recommended for anyone who loves fantasy, and likes rooting for someone who is inherantly good, but faced with very difficult decisions.

I give this book 6 out of 5 stars and the series only gets better from here The earthsoul prophecies is one of my abosolute favorite series and i would recommend it to anyone who enjoys fantasy. Cleansing Hunting is a stunning tale of Adventure, redemption, and love set in a brilliantly created world with Characters that become as real to the reader as anyone in their normal lives. If you enjoyed veil of darkness than you need to read this book and if you haven't read Veil of Darkness find a copy and prepare yourself for the ultimate fantasy expereince

Good ending. There were moments where it seemed the story advanced too quickly. The last few chapters were too tantalizing. Just when the story got good, the chapter ended and it was on to another one. I thought with how few I had left they would tie together. But in the end they were left in a nice place. Very excited for book 3.

I really like this series. I do have to admit that I needed to use the glossary more than I probably should have. Part of that might be that I read the first book a while ago. This book does end on a bit of a cliff hanger so I would recommend owning book 3 before you finish book 2.

Great series so far though. Glad I bought this book when I was walking through Summerfest.

On par with the first in the series...not bad, not great -- I enjoyed the influence of Japan in his creation of one of the warring cultures in the storyline...

The bad thing is that the third book is not yet out. The good thing is that the next book is supposed to be coming out in May.
