What a fantastic book, jam packed with lots of interesting information. A book that presents history in a way that is both easy and enjoyable to read.
The only thing that may put some readers off is the length of the book. With more than 600 pages, it is a big book to read.
If you love history - this book is a must read!!

Very readable, very informative and largely enjoyable book. The tendency to veer away from the original premise and the focus on too much American anecdotes should not detract from another well written and fascinating book full of historical facts, figures and intriguing individuals.
