Seventeen-year-old Jason McGuire is on death row for the murders of his brother and father. When his case comes up for appeal, Jason refuses to assist in his own defense, saying he killed them because "he felt like it". But Bryan Delafield, his lawyer, believes there's something behind the murders, and he is drawn closer to the truth and to Jason.
Mr. Reidinger has a way of writing that always captivate me. Though there was only one single scene where I would disagree with his characterization of the lawyer - it just came out too weak, suddenly too sensitive for the image otherwise built - I loved every single word and every single page of this book. I connected with the characters and felt so involved in their stories, it was amazing.
