Nantucket Sunset is the story of two people devastated by their past and looking to find a little happiness and self-worth. The story centers on Layla, a writer who has lost her writer's inspiration, and Samuel, who has just been released from prison after serving time for a white collar crime. The two unexpectedly meet at the Copperfield House. The background stories for each person are so well developed and revealing. It was nice to see how the two main characters are attracted to each other. Katie Winters' books aren't just simple romances. I'm always amazed by how she can describe events that would destroy some people. With the help of family and friends, one can surmount almost anything. This was a great book !

Great addition to the series. The Copperfield House is once again a haven for artists and writers. Several stories intertwine. First their is Layla, who has baggage with her husband and sister. The successful writer is struggling -and comes to do a writer’s workshop. She is assigned to work with Viktor, Bell, and Evie (another story line). Finally Samuel was befriended by Bernard in prison. Upon his release he struggles to fit back into society. Great characters with life issues. Can Layla create her next masterpiece? How willl Samuel adapt to life outside prison wallls?

Layla is a famous writer who is blocked. She's invited to her friend's historic old home in Nantucket to run a 3-months' long writers' seminar with just three students. She's wracked by insecurity and self-doubt, which is surprising given her success in life. Then she meets the love interest, Samuel. He had an interesting story, but the characterization of him was similar to the female characters; I don't think writing male characters is Ms. Winters' strong point. The story was interesting, but the characters overacted quite a bit, and I admit I ended up skimming--because I wanted to know what happened, which attests to the strength of the story.

This was a fun book! Layla is a famous writer with significant writers block and a very difficult romantic past. Samuel is a pal of Bernards from prison and has been out of the game for many years. Seeing how the two of them start to move forward in their lives - both personally and professionally was fun to read. Of course having the Copperfield family around always brings laughter and occasionally a little tear. There was a lot of discussion of past relationships that were filled with cheating and some trauma - so if that's a trigger - skip this book. Otherwise - definitely read!

Returning to Nantucket seems to have the healing that people need to move on. This story is about Layla and Samuel and their struggles to deal with past relationships and trauma of their past. Can their instant spark help with the healing process and lead to a romance? Wonderful continuation of Nantucket and the Copperfield House.

I liked the new characters and their alternating POV/timelines. I would have preferred to have some more Copperfield action, but I guess at book 8, it's understandable.

I didn't like that Catherine was non-existent in this book; it's fine she wasn't in the story but it was as if she doesn't live in the house at all - everyone else was mentioned in passing.

Second Time Around

I liked this book because its about a family you can just see in your mind and their friends. You can just imagine all the characters in the book, what they look like, their temperaments, the smiles they share and how they handle life. I think probably 20-70 year old people would love this book.

Greta and Bernard started their residency program at Copperfield. House and they was some relationship drama that took place and you need to read about Layla and Sam relationship

Writing About Writing

Stories can sometimes write themselves...without words like "coaxingly," please. There's some plodding here, rather than storytelling, but there's still the possibility of a worthwhile tale. I just found the writing didn't live up to the story potential.

Grab your tissues because you’re definitely going to need them! Katie Winters continues to dazzle us with her incredible books. She definitely sets the bar so high…Each book just seems to get better and better.

As usual, the storyline was excellent; the characters amazing; the plot twists and turns really kept you going; and the search for the HEA was absolutely incredible. This one actually made my heart hurt…❤️ You definitely need to grab a copy of this book for your personal collection! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and was totally thrilled by it.)
