I love Hervé Tullet! I think Miss almost-4 would have really enjoyed this a year ago. As it is, I enjoy it far more than her and she looks at it for about 10 seconds before asking for the next book on the stack.

Miss 3 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

Really great idea but not enough developed in my opinion. Feels very gimmicky and slightly too abstract.

I really like this particular author! And this new book is fun as well. It is a board book that doesn’t have any words. The story is completely told through pictures. But not just any type of pictures. The story is told through glow-in-the-dark pictures. It is about night and stars and the way light dances at night. It is fun to look at, especially with the fun cut-outs located on various pages.

The only trick is that if you take the book and go in a dark space to “read” it then it might not work. The book has to be looked at in the light so that the glow-in-the-dark element will actually work. The first time that I looked at the book I only quickly turned the pages while standing in the light. Then when I went into a dark room, the book only had some of the pictures activated. I had to go back through the book in the light before going to see the full effect in the dark. Although, this could also be a good thing. That means that the book could have different variations of “story” depending upon what type of glow-in-the-dark elements work.

Really fun, especially for those who love glow-in-the-dark. How this board book will hold up in the library collection is another matter. This would be fun to try in an evening story time with the lights out.

It's wordless which makes it a nice choice for all ages to just look at each page and be inspired.
