I loved this story as a child but could not remember the title. I found it today at the library in their "for sale" section of used books! I cannot be happier! And I can't wait to read it to my children. It's a whimsical story of these girls who live on their own in a cottage in a meadow, and they find a wounded animal. Wonderful story, beautiful pictures.
Emarie, I was so happy to read this to you last night. This book was one of my favorites from when I was a small girl. I wanted to join the cousins and live in the cottage with no grownups and have dress up time and parades whenever we felt like it. Maybe one day you will keep this book and read it to your daughter. Love, Mommy
I was sorting through children's books today and stumbled upon this book I used to read over and over again. First, I didn't know there were other books in this series so little me totally missed out, though there appears to be no US editions, so maybe I didn't. As a kid I loved the Holly Hobbie meets Little Women meets Little House aesthetic and how they all dressed in their favorite color, now I have so so many questions. Why are there no adults? How are there adult clothes in the attic if there are no adults? This all seems to put a lot of pressure on Kate who acts as mother. How do they know so much first aid? How do they have money to shop? Also, when I was younger I made the rabbit getting caught in the trap way more grisly in my mind than it actually was...
I carted this beautiful little book around with me so much for about a year when I was little. It got dropped in the dirt, dropped in the bathtub, propped up in the fuzzy arms of my (very apropos) stuffed rabbit. It was a sweet story, and the colours and the flowers and the strawberries were so enchanting that I was convinced that if I rubbed the pages hard enough, they most certainly *must* give off even better scents than my favourite scratch n’ sniff stickers. As I wore off the colour on my favourite illustrations (and rubbed deep grooves into the pages), I was certain I could smell the meadow all around me ❤️
I am so glad I finally found the title of these series!! I was so frustated I couldn't remember the series title, all I could remember was this series was my most favorite picture books which I always read during my childhood, it was about six girls living together at a cottage in a meadow, dressed in beautiful vintage outfits. They each had their own stories (if I'm not mistaken). The drawing was beautiful, the story was whimsical. I loved these books as a girl, and would want my future daughter to read these books as well..
I read this book 13 years ago in my school's library and I remember the feels, the love, and their journey until now. I love the drawing, the characters, and its great storyline. Too bad I can't find the ebook.
Recently, I was cleaning out a closet and an old box of books from my childhood and found this little gem. Yeah, there's not much to it but I was instantly transported back in time and could vividly remember thoughts and feelings I had about this book as a little girl. This is what books do for us, and I can not imagine my life without them.
I've had this book since I was a kid; I remember that I loved the story and pictures, most especially the invididual characteristics/colors of each girl. It's a whimsical story of 6 cousins who live by themselves in a meadow, take care of themselves, picnic together, and find a wounded rabbit.
I loved this book as a child and I kept the book all of these years and now my daughter LOVES this book. I would love to know if this was a series? Were there any more books??
