I love my Nero Wolfe novels, and actually got this from the library anticipating a biography. Instead, it's a sort of master's thesis about Stout's most famous novels--Nero Wolfe mysteries.

It might work, if the discussion wasn't limited to so few of the novels themselves (in fact, as I was reading about the "dysfunctional family murder" school of books, I was reading another one that was excluded for no reason I could tell)--or that so little of the novels is related. I don't think the term "spoilers" was around when Anderson wrote his book, but he sure as heck doesn't relate any, which is silly since who else would be reading a novel about Rex Stout, except those of us who have already read the novels?

In any case, it's short, it's shallow, and while interesting, it would have been much more so if more novels had been included (and some of the novellas, which better illustrate the themes; many of Stout's novels have silly red herrings and undermine any broader message) and significant plot points actually discussed, instead of coyly hinted at.
