John Gill was born and brought up on an island in the South Pacific and now lives in Europe. Besides novels he has written plays for American and French television, where his work was nominated for the Grand Prix Albert Ollivier. He is married to an English painter and they have one daughter.
I listened to the audio version read by the author which was atrocious. The author tries too hard to be menacing and scary with a deep distorted voice read in extremely slow motion. It failed to be creepy or eerie and was just very annoying and headache triggering. It was so terrible it was almost comical. The story could’ve been 1.5-2 stars but the narration just killed it for me.
The story was decent and had potential, but was a little choppy and disjointed. It was interesting enough to stick with but the ending was flat and a huge disappointment. The story really didn’t make total sense but I think I understood what the author was trying to convey. A little more development and a real narrator would improve this story a lot and raise the rating.
