This much-anticipated collection from Leacock Medal for Humor winner Gotlieb includes her most hilarious essays from the past 20 years. Her unique brand of social satire has appeared in the Washington Post the New York Times and Vanity Fair.
This is a relatively harmless collection of Gotlieb's newspaper columns. She stays away from any topic that could be deemed controversial and instead writes about travel, gardening, shopping, etc. It's not a book that anyone "needs" to read, but it's a way to pass time and I always enjoy Canadiana. My only complaint would be that Gotlieb sometimes comes off as snobbish, and her upper-crust life experiences aren't something I identify with. It's hard to feel sympathy for someone whose stressful days are caused by crowds at Nordstrom and organizing seating arrangements for dinner parties.
