The Lusty Man is a novel experience indeed. It is rather like watching the frozen activity of a Hieronymus Bosch painting or seeing a Breugel explode into manic life.
Quite entertaining and some great prose. I think I’ll have to read it a second time - maybe give it 4 stars then! I’ve had this on my shelf for years. Actually, a few decades. I remember picking it up at Munro’s Books in Victoria when I saw it because the author was (and hopefully still is) the wife of a teammate on a recreational softball team I played on as a grad student at UWO. We were the “Edgar Allan Pro’s”, a combination of English, Physics, and Astronomy faculty, staff and grad students, all crazy about baseball.
