Just briefly looked at his works
There were some really interesting ones among these collected works (the jesus, the mother and her child, the bull fighting one and the guy with the two angels on his shoulder)

Para variar algo non Fiction. Biografía de Botero, sus vivencias y evolución como artista, desde sus comienzos en Bogotá, hasta su destierro en Nueva York, pasando por su aprendizaje en Europa y su fascinación por Velazquez.
Súmamente interesante y complementado con múltiples imágenes de sus numerosos cuadros. Contiene ejemplos de las distintas etapas por las que pasó antes de encontrar su propio estilo y una pequeña parte dedicada a la escultura que tan poco se conoce de él.
Relata, así mismo, las situaciones en las que se vió enfrascado durante su vida en Nueva York y la dura crítica que recibió al tomar su compromiso con latinoamérica tan en serio y encontrarse fuera de toda corriente.
No pinto gordos, es lo que mas llama la atención de todas sus palabras. Es una realidad distorsionada que nos muestra un presente en pausa, sereno y con un quehacer cotidiano y dominguero de a diario.

I would like to begin by stating that I LOVE Botero. But the book fails to illustrate the wide variety of his work. Sure you get a taste, sure the works of art lose because of scale ( the actual paintings are ginormous). But he tackled so much more in terms of themes that the book makes me well sad. I was lucky enough to visit a Botero retrospective exhibition some months ago in Madrid that was supposed to be the biggest exhibition composed of private collections to date. I was in awe and I will always cherish the aftertaste. Hopefully I will find a book to remind me that.

Está bueno para alguien como yo que no sabe mucho de Botero y quiere entender su obra y su persona. En general muy técnico pero aprendí lo esencial y ahora me gusta el arte de Botero todavía más, lo puedo ver ahora con los ojos del entendimiento.

Lo que no entiendo es porque en la página X hablan de tal obra y la imagen de la obra está en la página X + Y del libro.

Veel informatie over tentoonstellingen en woonplaatsen maar geen poging om de individuele werken te doorgronden. Evenals bij Rothko moet je kennelijk onmiddellijk het werk waarderen of niet begrijpen zoals bij mij het geval is bij Rothko.

Este libro lo terminé súper rápido y la verdad me acuerdo cómo es la mitad porque para mí no fue muy memorable me gustó la historia de la obra de Botero pero no me intereso tal vez porque no es mi tipo de libro

quite like Botero, the book itself is alright.
