"Emotionally gripping, psychologically complex, and deeply romantic, A.E. Murphy's brilliantly drawn characters in the BROKEN series will stay with you long after you turn the last page." --Heather Anastasiu, author of Glitch (St. Martin's Press) "This has encompassed any expectations I had before I started reading. I am in absolute awe of what I just experienced in this story. I laughed, I cried and I fell in love with a book. Yup. That’s the only way I can describe it." Amazon Reviewer

A. E. Murphy is the Queen of sarcasm and satire, she likes long walks in the park, as much as ice cubes like to chill in a roasting oven. She’s effortlessly independent and so good at adulting it’s unfair on the rest of the world. She only napped twice today and has only avoided the dishes for three days before making the child slaves do them this morning. Winning! Her favourite hobby is writing, her worst hobby is reading through that writing. Also she has two cats that carry toys to the top of the stairs and drop them down so they can chase them. They do this repeatedly in the middle of the night. Who cares if she has work the next morning? Not the cats, that’s for sure. And if it’s not the cats doing the waking, it’s the toddler crawling into bed with her and pulling individual hairs from her scalp with pudgy little fingers for comfort. This is likely why she’s in a constant state of grump unless there’s chocolate and coffee. P.S. Please leave feedback, if not on the book then on this ridiculous bio she wrote herself. It’s the least you can do seeing as she’ll forever talk in the third person now. Alex loves her readers. Alex says thank you. Alex smiles.
Why didn't anyone mentioned the trigger warnings of this book!! Oh god. This book had me uncomfortable at the end of it.
First, i decided to read this book because of the element of mental health theme. I expexted the book to be on how this two individuals go about dealing or healing their disorders. However it wasn't what i was expecting. And theres an even bigger issues that one of the characters needs to heal.
The writing was a mess. The author confused me by the main character thinking more than adding it to the dialogue. Have of the book and storyd didn't go anywhere! It was always the same catch and throw between the two characters: Nathan and Gwen.
The personality of Nathan is very controling and abusive toward the heroine. The hot and cold attitude of him had me thrown of most of the entirely of the book. The main character Gwen, is so naive and incredulous. How many times she needs to use the expression "Grr" to let the reader know your angry.
Yes, there some phrases that are beautiful, but thats about it.
I will want to reread this from the beginning once I know all the secrets. Some books you can only really enjoy the first read but I think this one might be just as good or better once I understand why things have happened.
I didn’t even realize this would be so mysterious, I was expecting angsty but this book has been such a delightful surprise! Delightful is a funny word for such an emotional book but 🤷♀️
78% through and already in mourning that this book will end.
Hahahahaha it’s a trilogy! I didn’t know how it was going to wrap up in time. First book done and holy cow there are 2 more. Life is just too good to be believed sometimes.
How have so few people rated this book?
Just finished the series off to buy everything the author has written! She writes in a way that I’m hanging on every word.
Some parts seemed to move super slow, and I wished the story would have focused a bit more on unraveling and solving the mystery into Caleb's & Nathan's upbringing and their problems throughout rather than have the majority of it happening right at the end.
Otherwise, very good, heartfelt and sweet - I devoured this book within a day 🫣😂❤️
5 STARS! ⭐️ I read this book years ago and I’ve read hundreds of books since, I wanted to see if I still felt the same for it! I loved it! There were cheesy parts, but I literally couldn’t put it down. I wanted to keep reading more! There were moments that were funny, sad and spicy! I’m so glad I reread this book! I love the characters and their personalities!
Buying book #2 ... I got left hanging! I took a chance since there aren't many reviews but a brother love triangle? Count me in.. I can't wait to see how this plays out. Ugh for me word play is so enhancing and allows me to feel what the character is feeling so personally the steamy parts were STEAMIN. I enjoyed my read, it was a slow paced drama in the start but was clearly an intriguing story since I cant wait to get my hands on part 2. I felt confused and scared for and with Gwen, which just shows me I really enjoy the authors writing style.
Update (Put more things in perspective) : FINISHED BOOK #2... I wish in this book she explored and had a longer story for Caleb and Gwen's relationship but under the circumstances it makes sense why it turned out that way. Phew the rollercoaster of Nathan Weston is a wild one. He is very puzzling, intriguing, frightening yet thoughtful and manner-ful but with a past like his how could you not be so many things. I can say his character is an attractive one just very broken..
