Steadman's skillful hand creates gorgeous, snowy backdrops that gracefully capture the wonder and beauty of the common yet profound experience of walking with nature, encouraging readers of all ages to discover and re-discover the magical adventures awaiting their attention.

Pretty, but revolving around a mindfulness of listening to the message of the outside world – and, ultimately, to the message from outside in the religious sentiments it captures. A father and son have a yomp in the snowy forests, always following a red cardinal, whether they are aware of it or not. It's a nice message, but not one I really was fussed about reading – which leaves the artwork to judge, and luckily that's superb. I can easily see people taking to this so much more than I did, but I'll settle with three and a half stars, the bulk of which go to the artist.

This is a sweet, sweet book. The author takes you by the hand (and heart) and leads you into the woods, for a gentle walk through the snow. And look for the red cardinal! He's along for the walk, too!
