In a scorched world where the sun can kill in minutes, nineteen-year-old Dustin scours the treacherous desert for water sources. Armed with the ancient water map he inherited from his grandfather, he seeks entry into the elusive Brotherhood of Waterfinders, an enigmatic group he believes holds the key to his missing brother's whereabouts.

When he rescues Olivia, a mysterious ocean city girl, from a vicious group of bandits, he finds his water map stolen. Olivia offers her help to get it back, but Dustin suspects there is more to her than she lets on. Why would an ocean city girl venture so far into the desert, selling pendulums and dowsing rods? Is she a secret servant of the Brotherhood, or maybe even a water dowser herself?

In this gripping tale of survival, secrets, and the pursuit of hope, Dustin realizes that retrieving his water map is just the beginning of a much larger battle—one that will shape the destiny of their scorched world.

Can he save his brother, recover his water map and unravel Olivia’s mysteries in time?

Read this debut roman I bought on Amazon, while I was on a trip in a sun-scorched Vietnam, where the search for water was always a priority. Talking about seeing the scene.

I loved the descriptive language that really helped visualising the story in my head. The main characters were well worked out and the story got me. Recommended

this story was so good

I really enjoyed the story. I love that we got to see the world as basically a desert, and we have to follow two characters on their journey for the lost falls to start the water back in the world other than the ocean. I can’t wait to read the next part of the story.

You’ll be sunstruck long before reaching the end of this intriguing work.

A lot of twists in this story. A few you may see coming, but you still want to see if you are right and to see how it all works together. You will definitely want to continue with the next volume to see where it leads! I do.

Interesting plot of a future where the world that we find ourselves in is mostly desert, water is a precious resource, and the sun is so strong as to burn any exposed skin in seconds. Personally, I wasn't able to connect with any of the characters. There was quite a bit going on, with several characters coming into and out of the story. While there was adventure and action, at times it moved slowly and I sometimes felt like it was going in circles. However, it was a complete story with a beginning, middle and end, lots of descriptive language, and an interesting (if not novel) storyline.

A vivid new fantasy world to fall in love with! I was immediately swept into this tension-packed and suspenseful story. The plot is great and the characters are easy to identify with. A remarkable world to get lost into.

Great story

Slow to start but picks up soon to reveal many secrets. Some people are much more than they seem to be. Dustin is loyal and honest, both to others and to himself. But is anyone else? Not a romance, but a great clean adventure.

Did not enjoy reading this! Found it very boring and long winded. I really don't know why I picked this to read, it was so hard to start reading and then keep reading it. Read at your own risk!

I loved this book so much!

If you like YA fantasy/Science fiction, multiple POVs, MF friendship, and a touch of magic, you need this book.

In the Sunstruck world, the sun is poisonous and some people have a magical soothsaying ability. The plot is fast-paced, and the character development is natural.

Pick it up if you're looking for a fast fantasy read with a new creative world!

A great book! I was instantly intrigued by Dustin and the Sunstruck world. I love desert setting books like Rebel of the Sands, Spice Road and We Hunt the Flame. I connected with Dustin immediately and Olivia was more mysterious.
Sunstruck is a nice blend of Fantasy and Science Fiction with phenomenal world-building and nice fantasy elements.

Sunstruck takes you away from this world into a fantasy desert setting. The sun is poisonous and its rays can kill in minutes. Water is scarce and waterdowser are crucial to traveling the scorching desert. Trust no one is a mantra in the desert, and the story is full of secrets and twists. Great fantasy scifi blend.

Sunstruck is a well-paced story and the way the plot progresses is ideal, with the right amount of adventure, friendship, magic, travel, and enemies. Betrayal and trust are important themes in the novel. Great desert setting and magic system. I liked the focus on friendship and siblings instead of romance, it's refreshing.

Young Adult Fantasy at its best. I liked the Sunstruck world: a desert setting, water is scarce, the sun is poisonous, people are distrusting. The book has a Dystopian vibe, but reads like fantasy. Buy a copy!

A fast-paced desert fantasy! It is expertly written: you're sucked into the story and it doesn't let you go. The MCs are very relatable and their friendship develops naturally.
