Finally able to live a peaceful life, Amelia decides to open up a restaurant in Wolfwater. She picks up a chicken as a mascot, recruits a world-renowned [Chef] as her first employee, and ends up even convincing an angel to work for her. Meanwhile, Noele continues her training with Garron, preparing for any threat that is to come.
And the threats will come. All throughout Vacuos, the Sect of the Abyssal Thorns spread their roots, while the [Hero King] Kallistus Kal continues his scheming. But Amelia doesn't care for any of that.
After all, she has a restaurant to manage, and it is tough work.
Check out the sequel to Amelia the Level Zero Hero! It is a fun, action-packed LitRPG Isekai Adventure, and was one of the fastest growing novels of all time on RoyalRoad with millions of views. Now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!
Enjoyed the story but it’s starting to remind me more of a slice of life. Everyone else struggles then at the last minute she comes in swings her sword once and saves the day. Over and over again. Same shit different day. Also the language!
First things first, this series has a decent story built into it. It develops kinda oddly, but it's something that you can enjoy. Hence my 3 stars. But I have my problems with this series.
I like it when authors experiment with style. But unfortunately the shifts between 1st and 3rd person just don't work here. The problem is that the narrative style stays exactly the same. There's no flavour difference to the 1st person from the 3rd person. So there's no point to it, and so you just end up focusing on the lackluster phrasing.
But the main issue has to be the MC Amelia. It kinda feels like the author liked what Saitama(from one punch man) does, but doesn't understand why Saitama works on a fundamental level. Saitama is always trying his best to aliviate his boredom. That's the key. He can destroy any enemy in one hit, but he's always trying to find something to keep him awake, and he will literally climb to the bottom of a monster pit to do so. Amelia on the other hand wants to fix her boredom, but she honestly doesn't care.
And that's not even to begin thinking about the fact that she's been in constant combat for a decade. This person should be a sharpened blade that cuts anything that comes too close. The paranoia, the anxiety, and the stress of all of that is just completely not present. I'm not saying every book needs to focus on a character's PTSD. But you can say a person has been in combat for a decade, and have no negative consequences for that.
Like any good trilogy, the plot pacing and stakes ramp up really hit their stride in this book. Now I can’t NOT read the third book.
Is it disappointing that this book just sets you up for another book? Depends on your expectations but for me: DEFINITELY NOT. I’m totally invested in these crazy characters and situations. The way the story goes is more akin to traditional anime with some slower paced filler content, but if you’re here and you know—then you know.
Towards the end, I was honestly moved by what the main character and some of the side characters go through as growth. Achieving that makes this particular series exceptional in my eyes.
This is totally a whole entertaining and somewhat wholesome set of volumes for a manga at minimum.
Please keep in mind this isn’t “Literature”—it’s a fun, generally silly and entertaining fantasy action novella and it rocks doing what it does.
More fun to be had than a barrel of monkeys! I like how the MC has been steadily trying to be just a normal person, yet keeps having to be the hero. I want very badly to dive right in to book three. However it isn't out till October, and it seems like the author has already removed it from Royalroad. So the waiting begins. Mistakes are listed on Goodreads like normal.
8/10 I want to take points off for not being able to get straight to book three, but that wouldn't be fair and I'm not that petty.
**** I was wrong! Book three is being posted to Royalroad now! I guess it hadn't started yet when I checked while reading book one!
Amilea Level 0 Book 2 is a pretty interesting story that picks where the first book left off. In the author notes at the end, the author laments that perhaps there's too much slice of life in this one, and promises that the next book will have more adventures. I have to disagree with this point of view. I think without the slice of life focus, the book wouldn't have been nearly as funny as it was. It made me laugh out loud many times, and I always looked forward to what would show up next. This one is worth the read, especially if you liked the first one. I didn't find it slow, but I suppose some readers might.
on your application you wrote hero but not by choice
Ehhhhhh I read book lay story wise it gives a laid back isekai plot moments with every 3 ch being plot development.
I enjoyed the story on Royalroad, but reading the whoule think of book 2 I get abit annoyed with random side chacthers has they just say and do stupid stuff. They really only exist to give live in the background or made a faceless chacther be killed. It all really is abit underwhelming.
Lay the story continues I hope the authour improves on this has work to complete book 3.
I guess it's all part of the charm of the series but Amelia's ambivalence is a bit annoying. I mean OP doesn't even describe her And yet she seems to care nothing for the most part as the world falls down around her ears. Potentially. Though I do understand making the local depend on themselves a bit and not becoming dependent. I did find it humorous all her manipulations for her restaurant though. Overall an enjoyable book and a series I will certainly read the next one.
Full disclaimer- I read the first book in the series but only got halfway through this one. The problem is that the series sells itself as “slice of life” but its actually just about the super powered main character being too selfish and self-centered to actually do anything interesting. She just sits around and does “ordinary” things badly. It might be funny if it wasn’t so boring. I spent most of the series waiting for something to happen and yelling at the main character to give a f*ck about someone else in the world. Not recommended.
My Hero Zero! I mean, my hero, the level zero chef....yeh, just doesn't have the same ring to it. Well, at least in this book Amelia gets some customers for her out of this world food concoctions. Asking the way she may or may not save a few people and stop the end of the world at least once....
Fun times, hilarious engagements....pretty much standard fare for this series. Enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next one!
A few of the people that read book one with me said book two was iffy. I really hope it pans out as I need something entertaining.
Okay. I can see why some didn't like it. Too many POVs., not enough focus on Amelia.
I did enjoy it by the end. I I will pick up the sequel. I just hope much focus isn't put on side characters like this one. I'm reading this for Amelia, not friends.
This was a great second book to the series. I was left amazed at how things just happen organically for Amelia. The angel is still confused over things and I can only hope it will do the right thing in the future. Looking forward to reading the third book.
Such a fun series! Totally love her restaurant! Really hoping the series lasts a long time and definitely gonna check out more of this author’s books — already started Tian actually, really good too so far :)
I truly enjoyed reading this book. It was fun and entertaining. The story and characters were interesting and engaging. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book is definitely worth checking out.
Well worth buying fantastic series so looking forward to the next instalment highly recommend this book will not give spoilers but the emotional support chicken is excellent
While I don't agree with all of the directions this was still very fun. Will pickup #3 whenever it comes around. This volume might have been improved by a few less pages.
Amelia feels more like a side character than a main character. I already bought all the books so I’ll continue but probably wouldn’t if I hadn’t purchased them
