*Britta voice* I can excuse the ubiquitous sexual assault, but I draw the line at grooming! 🥴😭💀 All the content warnings, lol 🫠
No but like this was the worst volume yet. I guess I’m the clown for being surprised that the male love interest’s parents’ backstory would feature grooming, domestic violence, child abuse, and suicide considering the way this story has gone so far— extremely toxic and abusive patterns in a hyper traditional (seems like Edo era traditional) Japanese demon family— but wow this volume took me off-guard with how bad it was. I made it 3/4 the way through and had to put this down months ago because I was just so disappointed. There are still elements to the story I like and would like to see through, but with the quality of the writing nosediving the way it has been for the past few volumes, I don’t know if it’s even worth buying the cheap little used copies of this I’ve been buying off ThriftBooks to finish the series. Will come back and decide if this is worth the awkward cheap toxic romance novel energy it’s giving.
