She thought she'd found the perfect man... until she married him.
Anna had everything going for her professionally, but her personal life was lacking. After years of unsuccessful dating she was ready to give up, until she met Ethan, a handsome and successful lawyer.
She immediately knew he was the one and married him a few months later. But just minutes after they said their vows, Anna noticed Ethan was treating her differently. He became impatient with her, almost angry, and dismissed her concerns.
She brushed off his behavior as wedding day jitters, but in the weeks that follow, her new husband continues to do and say things that don't sit right with her. She feels like he's turning against her but doesn't understand why.
She assumed Ethan married her for love, but there was something else he wanted. And he'd do anything to get it. The only thing standing in his way... is Anna.
2.5 stars. I’m rounding up because this book truly did keep me engaged, the actual story though… not enough to round up to a 3. I am thoroughly let down lol
On it’s face, Such A Good Husband has your textbook psychological thriller format: the narrator is gaslit, the narrator doubts everyone around them, then themselves, which leads us to ultimately doubting the narrator as we try to decipher: Are they crazy are they narrating their own train wreck?
The level of gaslighting in this is so heavy it almost makes the narrator TOO naive , but even as I roll my eyes and yell “come on!” at the pages I found myself unable to put this book down. Needing to know how this culminates in the end.
Throughout the book, although she was sooooo naiive, a little part of me kept saying “keep reading, there’s going to be a plot twist here and it’s all going to make sense why she SO stupid”… I … was incorrect.
Unfortunately, the book is simply this. A husband gaslights his rich wife… who will he bring along for the ride?
I absolutely loved this book! Everything about it, from the writing style to the characters, this book was so good! The ending really was perfect. But don’t take it from me, see for yourself. Get this book NOW!I know this review is short, which most of my reviews are if I like the book. Don’t even get me started on the books I find lacking, because boy do I ramble on an on about those books. I have to make it short, because I have Rowen Chambers’ next book to read and I cannot wait!
It seems the Female lead character has never heard of gaslighting...or using your cellphone to record someone to prove they are lying...very basic story.
This story is infuriating. In mostly a good way. I enjoy a good prince charming to prick story and this guy was a real doozy. Anna has met Ethan and in a couple months they're married. Of course the honeymoon is short-lived as his true colors begin to show. All of that is typical, maybe even cliche for these types of stories. But Ethan turns out to be one of a kind.
He's the king of gaslighting. And somehow he's managed to pull their new neighbors into his games. Then his mother starts to play. Poor Anna is cliche--no voice, no guts, no back bone. She takes it all while questioning herself and putting all of her needs and wants second. Frustrating.
And then there's Edward. An odd and seemingly cold business man. But my favorite character of this whole story.
Entertaining at times but very disappointing at the end. I was expecting a big twist.
Also what is it about villains that magically disclose their whole mean plans to the victim? I understand when they explain the Why, but the How? Is it really necessary. It seems childish and lazy. Some people are just evil and they need no explanation for it.
Another weak main character to the list. Cant root for someone who doesn’t put up at least a little fight.
Incredibly frustrating. I predicted the overall plot pretty early in but was still intrigued by the little scenarios occurring. This book had me wanting to hit myself with the book with frustration with the characters. Great writing style
This story hooks you in, in the beginning but you could see the ending coming from a mile away. The characters are truly despicable. Villains im other novels are horrendous but you can somewhat comprehend their motives. In this book, the villains are wretched. In that sense, the author does a good job of describing them as cringe-worthy but their actions leave a really bad taste in my mouth. Also the revenge angle doesn’t make sense. The protagonist is somewhat sympathetic but her plot line is unoriginal. I could absolutely see that her best friend was in on it. It is fairly obvious. I also has flashbacks while reading the controlling relationship in this book. Overall give it a 3 1/2. It does keep you interested but the plot line is predictable. Also there are some loose ends left and not addressed. I absolutely detest the characters and it is rare for me to feel that way about fictional characters.
This is a fast read. I liked how the author made Anna look like she's an unreliable narrator. Eventually, everyone stressed me out that I had to pause for a while but it was all worth it in the end. I actually thought that this is similar to 'Don't Let Her Stay' by Nicola Sanders but I still enjoyed reading this nonetheless.
✦ 𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬 - • perfect husband facade • gaslighting • suburban suspense • toxic marriage • psychological thriller vibes • new bride in danger • secrets behind closed doors
✦ 𝐌𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 - This story gave me chills in such a good way. Anna thinks she found her dream husband. He is handsome, romantic and always saying the right things. But slowly… his sweet love starts looking like control. Every chapter feels like a new red flag. I was screaming inside girl runnn. I was reading this slow and my brain was literally screaming like what on earth is even happening right now. Thats why I keep reading & finished in few hours. I loved how it shows that “perfect” marriages can be the scariest ones. The neighbors gossip. The lies. The missing things. The jealousy. It all turns into a dark thriller. And Anna’s character growth was so powerful. She learns to save herself and finds her strength again. The whole vibe is addictive and tense. I kept reading to see what Ethan will do next. And the ending felt like a victory for every woman who said “enough”. Truly Such a Good Husband but only from the outside. Inside he is a walking nightmare. This is my first book by this author and I’m definitely going to read all of their books now. If you love domestic thrillers with secrets and shocking twists then this one belongs on your shelf. Absolutely 5 stars from me.
This was a slow burn. I enjoyed it for the most part. Its about a woman who is wealthy after being left her father's fragrance company. She meets a man she barely even knows and they get married 3 months later. Unbeknownst to her he had sinister motives. His mother ends up breaking her leg and cant be left alone, so the husband, her son agrees that she will move in with them and his wife would take care of his mom. Things start going bad, the mom is so rude and conniving. She starts making the neighbors think that her daughter in law is crazy. She purposely poisoned the neighbors kid and blamed it on her daughter in law. We later find out that the husbands dad worked at adore the fragrance company and was the one who made adore fragrance. He wanted his part of the pot since he was the chemist who made the top selling perfume. they eventually sue him and loose so the husband's dad takes his own life. Now the mother and son have a plan to get back the company that they thought they rightfully owned. This story has twist and turns and lots of gaslighting. It took me a while to really get into it but the ending was good.
Anna is convinced to go on a blind date. She discovers her date didn’t make a reservation and assumes she’s stood up. A very handsome man walks in and Anna learns he was stood up as well. He asks her to join him for dinner. Four months later, they are married.
Anna’s mother had dementia and passed away. Even though the doctors told her it wasn’t genetic, she is terrified she’ll end up with the same fate. When she begins forgetting things, she begins to wonder if she’s starting her decline. At first, it’s forgetting she filled out paperwork to change her last name. Then it’s forgetting conversations and important details regarding her husband and mother-in-law. Anna makes cookies for the neighborhood kids and adds peanuts, even after a neighborhood mom said her son is allergic. When the boy has a reaction, everyone is upset with Anna
Is Anna having early signs of dementia? Will she die young, as her mother did?
The twists in this story are so good! Definitely a book I had a difficult time putting down!

An excellent page-turner that reminded me a little of the beginning of the film 'Enough'. Anna is heir to a multi-million dollar fragrance company but chooses to work there while her late father's best friend, Edward is CEO. Desperate at 35 to be married with children she keeps meeting losers via a dating app and agrees to one last date when her assistant, Candace, insists she try one more time to meet someone before giving up. As it happens her intended date stands her up but in step Ethan, a suave attentive man who appears to also have been stood up by his date at the restaurant rendezvous. They hit it off and three months later tie the knot. Big mistake. The bigger mistake is allowing Rose, Ethan's mother, to move into their new home when she fractures her ankle and requires care. 4 and a half stars
This is the second book I've read from this writer that I have enjoyed. This book is not as good as her first book The Starter Wife; but It is fast paced and fun to read. I admit that some of Anna's actions were so stupid it was hard to root for her sometimes, but I had to remind myself that it is a work of fiction and just enjoy the ride. I highly recommend this book if you are a fan of Freida McFaddens' terrific books "The Wife Upstairs" and Brain Damage " and enjoy books about smart successful women who marry men they barely know just because they are very very handsome, then You'll love Such a Good Husband too.
I wanted to love this book so much. It was fast paced, I finished it within 5 hours. There was no likeable characters - except for Edward. Anna is so infuriating, so stupid, so naive. The twist was fun, the ending was not. The book relies heavily on dialogue and not description. I do wish the author went into more into the nitty gritty and the ugly sides of the story, but heavy topics were rushed over or almost censored? I'm also usually not a fan of books that rely heavily on having an unreliable narrator, so that might have factored in on the overall rating...
Overall I enjoyed the book, but I would have a hard time recommending it to others.

She marries a man after three months of knowing him. She has inherited her father's fragrance company. He moves his mother into their home. She is horrible. So many things happen to this woman and she stays. And stays. And stays. She makes excuses for others, lets her husband gaslight her. Well written, would follow to the end but....I am so over reading about women like this. I want to shake them. I admit I did not finish this book because I just couldn't tolerate this woman's blindness for any longer. I have read so many formulaic books like this lately and I'm looking for another option.
A woman meets a man and three months later she is engaged and married. Um yeah, right. Oh and she suffers from anxiety and he gets mad that he didn't know ahead of time. What a bully. And right away the gaslighting starts and she handles it by not handling it, and instead is a simpering mess. This is a woman who has majority ownership of an international company .. even with anxiety, she should be stronger and have more confidence.
You could see what was going to happen and see it coming a mile away. I chose not to waste any more time following their journey.
I absolutely enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Although I feel sleep deprived this morning it was definitely worth the late night to get to that jaw dropping ending. The characters were well thought out and the story line kept me guessing. This is the first time I've read something by this author but it won't be the last. In fact I've already started on the next one by this engaging writer.
When I started this book I was Intrugued but as I read on the main character and everyone around them just pissed me off so much. I did want to see how it ended so after chapter 20 I skipped to the last 2 chapters and it gave me all the information I needed to know. Lots of plot twist but the fact that the main character let this go on for so long pissed me off so much like no strong female lead it was a weak nieve woman.
The storyline was interesting enough I guess, but I'm definitely glad this was a shorter book.
I found the author's writing style to be quite choppy, for lack of a better word. Very dialogue-heavy, and not very detailed. It was easy to read, but as a reader who is a sucker for descriptive writing, I was left wanting a lot that this book wasn't giving me.
The ending seemed very rushed, but then again, the whole book was pretty rushed, in my opinion.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and read it in two sittings on the one day.
The characters were interesting, well written and they kept me engaged. I found the story moved along at a good pace. I did work out the ending fairly early in the book but it didn’t ruin it for me at all.
This is my first book by this author and I will be reading more of her books in the future.
If you want a good, fast paced thriller, give this a go.
Oh my god, I read reviews on this, and all were saying same thing, and now I'm saying that same thing, wow...wow..wow..read it in 2 days because I couldn't put it down, I'm sure if I hadn't of work to go to I'd of read it in a day, fantastic story, twists it's got the lot, if it had been a film I'd of been on edge of sofa ,,100+ stars
I liked reading this book and enjoyed it but did find myself thinking that no one is this dumb! The wife just seemed like she was not the brightest bulb on the tree! I guess just because I would have shown his butt the door for half of the dumb stuff. But, I liked the writing and maybe women like her do exist, so I'm going to check out another book by this author. I recommend this book.
