What if he’s just not that into you because he’s already dead?
With the newly promoted Sergeant Walker away in Edinburgh, Mary Plunkett has decided to put on her big girl pants and tackle the dating scene. Things have changed a little since she last donned her low-waisted jeans and took someone out to the Dancing. Against all odds, she ends up meeting someone she actually likes. Then the worst thing possible she is ghosted.
Of course, everyone knows that that means he’s just not that into you, but Mary is convinced that something terrible has happened to him. And when she turns out to be right, it’s another case for the detective skills of the Wronged Women’s Co-operative.
I'd read the earlier book in this series, but I can honestly say that I enjoyed this second book more. The characters have well-formed, vivid personalities and the murder clues are twisty and intriguing. It's just the icing on the cake that the book was so humorous, too. It's simply fun to watch the sort of slapdash way they go about gathering clues: calling in family favors, empathizing with other women, and using intuition. This is definitely a keep-on-my-Kindle and reread book.
I’m enjoying this cozy series set in Scotland. Likable group of amateur detectives use their variety of strengths and skills to help the police solve crimes. In this book, there have been a couple of murders, one victim a big city crime boss, the second a dull guy who had dated one of our ladies — though his murder caused him to stand her up for their latest date.
The characters gain more depth in this exciting novel. One sits on the edge of their seat as the story unfolds. Walker and Mary’s relationship takes a new turn. A page-turner, I could not set this book down! The plot is full of twists that are easy to follow. Recommend reading this series sequentially in order to get the most out of it.
This is a delightful series with enjoyable characters. It is fun to follow the shenanigans of these women as they solve cases in kind of a haphazard manner. Officer Walker, Mary’s boyfriend, is adorable.
I will say that this was just plain boring to me. The dialect was hard for Mr to understand so it made the whole book confusing. I guess as far as a murder mystery it was on even with the strange wording.
This author is new to me, and I had to adjust my attitude toward the formatting. Once I adjusted, I could hardly put down the book. Excellent characterization and natural humor. I highly recommend this cozy.
When Mary's internet date stands her up, she is very annoyed and heads to his home to tell him where to go. The next day she is taken in for questioning in regard to her date's murder. The WWC helps the police in their investigations.
