I love Ninjago books. This one is quasi canonical story set in the universe of dragons rising. It does not strongly relate to the canon dragons rising storyline but is a fun read if you like these characters.
The first story is about Arin and Sora scheming to get Sora in a mech race with a hefty entrance fee. Fun, quasi canonical story that’s mostly about world/character building and their friendship before dragons rising began - enjoyed it.
Story 2 is purely about clutch powers and the explorers club. There’s no ninja and it doesn’t even strongly relate to the Merge. However if you like clutch you’ll love this.
Story 3 is another prequel story to dragons rising, about Kai and Lloyd fighting monsters and protecting people immediately after the merge. It also explains why they separated, and provides a nice little lead into the Kai ‘legends: monstrosity’ Ninjago short that was recently posted on YouTube so that was the best Easter egg in the book and connection to canon.
Overall it’s a good book.
