This vol has wangxian reuniting after 13 years, which is one of my favourite scenes 🤍🖤 we have confused Wei Wuxian, who is like 'damn, is he trying to kill me too?' and confused Lan Wangji, who is like 'damn, is my reason to live actually back???' I seriously love them so much!!
Of course, we can't get past this scene without wangxian song (audio drama version). I always get emotional listening to this song 🥹🥹

Ok, let's go back to the story. Yes, Hanguang-Jun finally gets to take his Wei Ying back to Gusu 🥰 (not that this was really Wuxian's intention but alas lol)
I love everything about this part. How Wuxian is coming up with all sorts of mischief to get kicked out of Gusu and to get Lan Wangji to be disgusted with him, while Wangji is unnaturally chill about the whole situation - and is probably having the time of his life on the inside. I mean, 'Then, let's stay like that for the whole night' comment, anyone? I think, he's enjoying this way too much, haha.
Second part of the review about teen wangxian to come!! :D
The first book was confusing, all the names and back story and reincarnation and clans and all - I was hoping for the second book to be a it easier now I had 200 pages of characters and story under my belt. Nope. It gets even more confusing, more concepts, more extra names for the same characters, and lots more flashbacks (almost all flashback). Help, this needs like 5 k word for a cheat sheet character list and 20 family trees or something. There is a short character intro but it's really insufficient...
Still, the character interaction is fun, the universe and worldbuilding is interesting ans different there are finallt more serious hints of slash and potential romance and I will probably give further volumes a shot (though I am in no hurry for that!)
I absolutly adore Wei Wuxian, he's a total goofball and can't take anything seriously unless someone is in danger. He is not afraid to break the rules or to get on Lan Wangji's bad side. I'm waiting to see how the relationship between the two of them grows.
I'm watching the drama, The Untamed, that is based off of the books series and this manhua is following pretty close to the show. I'm honestly enjoying both the show and the manhua. Now I just need to read the novels.
I'm stupid about every single rendition of this story. I'm stupid about every single character in this story. But you know what I'm most stupid about??? When the children are still children and untouched by the horrors of war, and all the narrative irony that comes from the chapters that come before. (Also I'm so in love with how the artist conveys everyone's body language, but specifically Wei Wuxian, take the dialogue and context away and you still know that boy's a Little Shit™️.)
I will read this story in as many formats as possible. It cut off at a weird spot again though, but that might be because of how expensive it is to publish in full color. It's going to be a very long series at this rate but I'm fine with it.
Okay okay, I will pause on the manhua now until I actually finish reading the novel series but like...I just love this style and flow. The art is so beautiful and soft like...sigh it fits the vibe so perfectly.
It's obvious Lan Zhan is Wei Ying's type even back when they were fifteen. He keeps on bugging this particularly handsome lad which he calls boring, but he's having so much fun. He wants Wangji to look at him so bad. I get him though! From the first volume, page 128: "Hanguang-jun is so cool! He's the perfect man!" And Wei Ying understands that so well.
I also want to point out how Wuxian is confused of how Wangji is tolerating all of his silly plays unlike fifteen years ago, haha! Oh Wei Ying, you can try everything now, and see if Lan Zhan will reject you over anything. I love Wangxian so much!
I’m still disappointed that so much of the story is skipped, it’s like an overview of the book. I understand that it’s hard to make a comic out of such a detailed novel as MDZS, but it’s on such a level that if you have never read the novels before you won’t understand what’s happening. I mean it’s still fun to read, and I like the art, but it’s just really disappointing.
I am so disappointed it has taken me this long to start this series! The story is progressing smoothly, and the characters are so enjoyable, especially Wei Wuxian. I can hardly wait to dive into the next book.
Wangxian has my whole heart. Loved this volume more than the first even though I know and love every part of their love story. The artwork is stunning. One day I’ll convince people to watch The Untamed, read The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, watch the donghua MDZS, and read this manhua!!
Puntaje real: 4/5.
Another 5-star read. I love this series I am halfway through watching the show and due to censorship in China there are a lot of things missing from both versions of the show that we don't know about even down to the relationship between Wei and Lan. I'm so happy we get to see what the original story was meant to look like here.
I'm glad we are finally in the past storyline now and I really do feel as though I am re-experiencing this story again. I am getting questions answered that are left out in the show. I am excited to dive into their relationship more and see it progress as the story continues. I am seeing bits of it here and there already in this volume but I want to know how things got to the way they are.
Can't wait to get the next volume off my mate and I'm honestly thinking about buying the novel versions for my library at home.

3.75/5 Like I mentioned previously, it’s definitely better to have read the novel before reading the comic if this is your first cultivation story. The novel might be denser, but it gives more context on a lot of the elements that are at play in this story. The comic, while really well illustrated, skirts over some details that new readers could benefit from. Also, the chapters almost always end on a weird note. I kinda wish the comic adaptation didn’t have the chapter dividers. It makes sense in it’s original webtoon format, but it’s a bit awkward in print. That being said, I love the character designs and art style. As somebody that’s read this story multiple times now, I love experiencing the story again in a different format.
In "Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, Vol. 2," I found myself enchanted by the glimpses into the characters' childhoods and the gentle development of their relationship. Watching their bond grow as they face challenges together, especially while fighting a demon, was truly heartwarming. The dynamic between them carries a sweet tension, beautifully capturing the essence of enemies-to-lovers. Each interaction feels meaningful, filled with both conflict and tenderness, making their journey together all the more engaging. This volume deepens the emotional connection between the characters, creating a lovely narrative that I wholeheartedly recommend for anyone who enjoys heartfelt stories of growth and companionship.
