From the White Cliffs of Dover to the bright lights of Paris, All Aboard! The most elegant train in Europe – and full steam into trouble.
It’s summertime , 1928. A rather lucrative courier job sends Georgiana overseas, in search of Henry’s father. Following an illuminating trip to the British Embassy, they rendezvous with the man who sent the mysterious telegram, and find themselves in the dark. At a dead end, Auntie Sheba comes up trumps with tickets to Romania on the fabulous Vitesse Europa, but their impromptu holiday turns murderous, when they realise that one of the passengers is up to no good.
Is the earl’s diary more significant than it appears? Whatever happened to that strange delivery? And might Crumpet be driving the train? Georgiana Mortimer ventures forth in Book 4 of the Mrs Mortimer Mystery series – with the aid of her eccentric family, curious friends and Crumpet, her boundless terrier. Set in the luxurious world of continental train travel, ‘Death First Class’ is an elegant mystery. Escape to the 1920s in this fast-paced page turner, perfect for fans of Downton Abbey and Miss Marple.
This was a strange story from the very beginning to the end. The trip was being paid for by a short trip to the British Embassy and delivering a pet tortoise. The premise of the story is following up on an anonymous note sent to Henry eluding that Henry's father was still alive and in Romania. The father being alive was quickly disabused by the British Embassy in Paris and that would be the end of the story except for two first class tickets were provided to the main character pair supposedly by Georgiana's aunt to Bucharest. From that point on the adventure became decidedly much more dangerous from an assassination attempt to people tossing their compartments. I definitely recommend this book.
