Volume one of The Griffin Sanctuary consists of The Unicorn Herd, The Phoenix Nest, and The Kitsune Giggle. These stories follow Charlotte as she begins first her internship at the sanctuary as a unicorn keeper and then as an apprentice veterinarian. Charlotte has always dreamed of working at the sanctuary. Better with animals than people, she slowly makes friendships and connections as she learns about the creatures in her care. While the main focus of the stories are on Charlotte learning to be a vet, there is a romantic plot running through as well centered on her growing feelings for fellow intern, Felicity. Starting out as rivals and competitors for a spot caring for the silver blush unicorns, they become friends with some awkward flirting and tension.

Arizona Tape has created an enchanting world where creatures of fantasy are real. The research she has done into caring for real life animals definitely shows in her descriptions of the unicorns, phoenixes, and kitsune. Charlotte is a relatable and an endearing character with her social awkwardness and eagerness to learn all she can. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more of the creatures at the sanctuary and seeing Charlotte grow as a veterinarian.

This collection contains the first three stories in The Griffin Sanctuary Series. All the stories center around Charlotte, a young student that has always wanted to be a unicorn keeper.

The Unicorn Herd: I loved this one. The banter between Charlotte and her fellow interns adds to the sweetness of hearing about the Unicorns and seeing their dynamic in the herd.

The Phoenix Nest: This one we see Charlotte changing up a little what her path is going to be. We get to learn about Phoenix personalities, the creature itself, and see that not all are compatible sometimes. Little more of the romantic possibilities for Charlotte in this one.

The Kitsune Giggle: After two Kitsune are transferred to another reserve, Charlotte is assigned to helping figure out why a single Kitsune isn't eating and is self harming. We still more of Charlotte and Felicity together too.

All three stories were SO good. A little drama in the last one too for those that crave a little with their reading.

In the first book, The Unicorn Herd, we meet Charlotte and follow her journey as an intern keeper with the Silver Blush Unicorns. In the Phoenix Nest, Charlotte is starting her veterinary apprenticeship, building personal relationships with the other interns and we meet the firey Phoenix duo. In the Kitsune Giggle, Charlotte spends a lot of time in the Kitsune enclosure with Kiki and her relationship with a colleague turns romantic. At the end of the book, it mentions sn exchange programme which I imagine is the theme of the next book. I really enjoyed reading this series, it has cute mythical animals, light romance and an easygoing feel.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I liked following Charlotte as she starts at the Griffin Sanctuary, her dream job. When one door closes, another one opens for her in a field she thought denied. Her experience with the different creatures holds her in good stance in continuing at the sanctuary. Her romance life may have suffered a little but that is improving too.

Good stories and fun characters

This was a good set of stories. The characters were interesting and there was a good set of interactions with the animals. There was a bit of chaos but it got sorted out over time, though I was betting on the Sphinx cat being the eventual pairing animal vs what it ended up being, tho the one they did get also worked well. I enjoyed this book and recommend it.

Fun & entertaining!

This was a really fun & entertaining book to read! I enjoyed the stories of mythical animals and their care. I also liked reading about Charlotte and her developing relationship with Felicity, her one-time rival. The stories depict Charlotte's training and work at the Griffin Sanctuary, and I enjoyed each story & look forward to continuing to read more.

Love the descriptions of animal behavior, and some of the ethics of sanctuaries and conservancies. Appreciate that it is not just focused on animal emergencies, but really examines what goes into day to day care, but adds the elements of mystery and surprise since the animals are mythical/magical.

A fun read. I didn’t remember that this is volume 1 so 3 stories in it. Story follows Charlotte an intern at a mythological animal zoo. It was fun seeing the takes on animals: unicorn, phoenix, & kitsune. Includes a sapphic romance.

I liked reading about the animals obviously the author has done a lot of research. It was very interesting and each book got better. Didn't find Charlotte as interesting and certainly the slow burn romance with Felicity was, I found, quite awkward to read.

Didn't need the relationship drama

I was reading it for the animal stuff. I wasn't really keen on Felicity so the mild f/f subplot wasn't interesting to me.

The Griffin Sanctuary Volume 1 follows intern Charlotte's adventures in learning how to care for endangered species at the Sanctuary, such as Silver Blush Unicorns, Phoenixes, and Kitsune, while dealing with alterations to her life that she didn't anticipate. This is a very gentle series from what I've read so far, while still talking about serious issues. They talk about how environmental damage can affect species natural territories, how loneliness affects animals mental health, and the effects of poaching on rare and endangered species. I love how the books address such serious and relevant issues, while still being gentle. I look forward to reading more about Charlotte's adventures with endangered species, and learning more about her world.

An interesting read full of mythical animals

An interesting read full of mythical animals and a slow-burn romance starting. Great value boxset of the first three books in the Griffin Sanctuary series. Can’t wait to continue reading!
