Fallen Knight is the second book in the Broken Crown Trilogy, a gripping forbidden royal bodyguard romance. Continue the series today.
T.K. Leigh, otherwise known as Tracy Leigh Kellam, is the USA Today Bestselling author of the Beautiful Mess series, in addition to several other works. Originally from New England, she now resides outside of Raleigh with her husband, beautiful daughter, three cats, and special needs rescue dog.
When she’s not writing she can be found training for her next marathon (of which she has run over twenty fulls and far too many halfs to recall), having impromptu dance parties with her daughter, or planning her next trip to parts unknown.
I’ve been going back and forth on whether to write this review or not. It’s more of a 2 1/2 star book for me, which is really disappointing since Royal Creed was my favorite book in April. I rounded up to 3 stars just because of that.
So why 3 stars? To start with, it takes place 9 years later. 9 freakin’ years and Creed hasn’t even made any contact, tried to see her, or anything. But that’s okay…he just watches her interviews and stalks her online. That makes it so much better (can you hear the sarcasm?). By 9 years I would have been “that’s his loss then” and would have been over him. I could have gotten over the 9 years (which should have been more like 2 years or less), if it got better from there, but it didn’t.
Esme finds a perfect guy named Tristan. They have been together for 5 years. Then Esme gets a phone call about her brother that brings her home. One of my greatest fears for this book came true. I remember writing about it in my book journal. Anyway, we find out that Creed has been screwing his dead brothers wife. I haaaaate when authors do this. It ruined a Colleen Hoover book as well. I had a bad feeling it was going to head that way. I guess at least in this one, Creed didn’t consider himself the baby’s/kids father.
So then the whole book keeps just going days and months apart. You really lose track on how long it’s been. Creed and Esme don’t even get back together until I had about an hour left in my kindle book. But of course he then breaks it off with her and says to himself that Rory (his sister in law he’s been with) and his nephew need him. Meanwhile, Tristan is fighting for Esme to take him back and is willing to do anything to be with her. While I know you can’t help who you fall in love with, I was really rooting for Tristan at this point. You shouldn’t be rooting for “the other guy”, but that’s how much I couldn’t stand Creed at that point especially when she has a guy who will fight for her and put her first.
Then of course we get to the ending, more months or whatever go by and Esme gets up the courage to tell Creed everything and put everything on the line. She spills her heart out and tells him she loves him. Creed doesn’t care. He takes off walking away. Then Esme spills the secret that his brother was bringing her to him on the day that he died, and that his brother wanted them to be together. THATS WHAT CHANGES HIS MIND?!?!? Are you serious?!? You will finally be with her (who you really wanted to be with in the first place) because your brother was okay with it in the end?!? What happened to the guy who wanted to fight to be with Esme?! Who would do anything for her?! But yet, he was thinking his brother didn’t want them together (more or less), but yet he was okay and thought maybe his brother would be okay with screwing his wife?!? Make it make sense!!! Thennn lastly, he doesn’t want to tell his sister in law right away that he’s back with Esme and will move out. He wants to gradually get her used to it. I really want to insert an eye roll. At this point, I’m worried the next book will have her with a surprise pregnancy. Seriously. I’m going to finish the last book, but my gut just is in knots thinking of it. Annnnd for 400 pages of this book, Esme and Creed were only “together” for maybe 2% of it.
I hope Tristan finds someone that will love him and only him. He definitely deserves it. He was the real hero of the book.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I couldn’t wait for this installment Fallen Knight and once again TK does not disappoint. In this installment it’s years later after Esme’s accident and she tries to move on with her life. She has a boyfriend she thinks she loves and has left her royal life behind until a phone call from a certain Royal CPO that changes everything. Creed calls Esme to help Anders and his life is turned upside down. No matter how hard they try to stay away from each other the heart wants what it wants. The twists and turns in this story will leaving you wanting more and wondering where did that come from. I can’t wait for the final book to see how it all plays out and to see if love conquers all. 5 stars is definitely not enough for this book and the series is a must read.
This book was hard to read, mainly because the emotions tore through me like I was the one experiencing it first hand. My heart broke for all the things that Esme experienced and walked away from, and how she feels like a vital part of her is missing, even though she tells herself this is for the best. Then one phone call changes everything once again, but will this be the time for her and Creed to finally be together? Or will they be destined to just have what could have been?
I love Esme so much, but some of her actions really frustrated me. I understand that Cruz is the big love of her life, but I think the person she has in her life is better suited for her, especially right now. I didn't love the big time apart, nor did I really like the entire personality switch he had. There's a certain trope that plays out here regarding him, and i dislike it so much. Where was the man who put everything on the line and fought tooth and nail that he was her man and she could count on him? Until that Cruz shows up, this one needs to walk away.
So why the four stars if all that bothered me so much? Well, TK writes FABULOUSLY, and even though these characters enraged me, I couldn't stop reading. All the twists and turns, the secrets and revelations, the want and pain, it's all revved up top notch here and I could not get enough! And that jaw dropping cliffy has me BEGGING for more!
So while this installment may frustrate you, it's so worth the read. It just goes to show why this author is one of my favorites!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions **
This just keeps getting better and better! The twists and turns the drama the suspense the passion this is seriously one of my favorite stories written by T.K. Leigh ! I can’t wait for the final book to find out all the answers that I’m dying to know and to see if love does win ! That cliffhanger was a doozy! Amazing! Can’t wait for the finale!
Well, I got sucked into this book because the first book ended with a cliffhanger, and despite the fact that I did not really love that book, I had to see what happened. Unfortunately, nothing really happens in this story regarding that cliffhanger ending. In fact, this story begins TEN YEARS in the future. Everyone from the first book is basically separated from one another and has been forever. Esme is now in a committed relationship with Tristan, an American movie star. Creed is in a weirdly toxic "relationship" with his late brother's widow. The bad guy revealed in that cliffhanger in book one is basically absent for pretty much this entire book. So what is there to do in this story? Well, I guess it is going to be weird push and pull moments between Creed and Esme for basically two hundred pages. Sure, ten years has passed and everyone has basically moved on, but feelings are forever, right?
I had a hard time rooting for Esme and Creed in this story because Tristan seemed like a wonderfully decent guy who was REALLY good for Esme. She seemed perfectly happy with him until she was thrown back into Creed's path. The whole Creed/Esme thing just felt icky to me because she was essentially cheating on Tristan during most of the book. They tried to twist things eventually to make it seem as if Tristan just didn't get her the way Creed did, but I wasn't buying it.
So ... I wasn't really into the plot of this story, but I kept reading because I really did want to know how things played out with the bad guy, and nothing really happened, BUT this book ended on a cliffhanger too! Grr! T.K. Leigh sucked me in again, so I'm headed off to get this mystery solved in book three .... hopefully. Three stars.
The queen of cliffhangers has out done herself. I knew the story would end in a cliffhanger. I was excited for it. I was devouring page after amazing page in order to get to the end-for-now. I was trying to figure out how Fallen Knight would end. MIND BLOWING!!!! That is how it ended.
Esme and Creed are still playing the avoidance game. She fled Belmont at the end of the last book (You have read it, right?) avoiding everything possible. She tries to find a replacement, but Creed cannot be replaced. With just one call from home; she can avoid it no more.
Creed has become absorbed in Adam's family, taking care of Rory and AJ. It was away to avoid what he lost. It is away to assuage his guilt. Avoidance and denial were much easier while Esme was in Paris. Now that she is home resistance is futile.
Fallen Knight is jam packed with drama. Not just romantic, but the conspiracy it still out there, the questions grow. Esme begins to question the past. Too many people have died. Too many people have gone missing. When she stares down the barrel of a gun she can't stop thinking about life ten years ago. She can't help but think everything is connected and it lead to Adam's death. It lead to the end of her and Creed. It lead to her leaving Belmont.
Fallen Knight is a wonderful forbidden romance. Watching Esme and Creed fight their feelings was very entertaining. Whenever they give in to the chemistry, the pages are scorching and oh so swoon worthy. The goodbyes, the never agains, were heartbreaking. Fallen Knight gave me all the feels and left me in thrilling anticipation for the next book.
Creed! Creed! Creed! ❤️ Don't we all want a Creed in our lives. T.K. Leigh is the master at writing romance, heart breaking love, and suspense. And that's exactly what you get with Fallen Knight. Fallen Knight starts off 9 years after Royal Creed and Esme has left the Royal family and everything behind to live in Paris and attend culinary school. However she gets a call with news she never thought she would hear and rushes back home. But she knows when she returns she will come face to face with the one thing she ran from. How will they deal with each other after hiding from their true feelings for so long? Dive into Fallen Knight and get your fill of Esme and Creed!
ARC Review Fallen Knight by T.K. Leigh * * * * * The second installment of a fantastic trilogy as this princess and her captain of the royal guard try to conceal their burning desire for each other...if it were only that simple.
It has been 9 years since Esme had her heart been broken. After the tragedy that led to the choice Creed made, a final nail in the coffin on their blooming relationship, it was the end of their love story. Esme ran off back to Paris and tried to live her life. Now, she is happen living the life she desire, with a wonderful man who adores her. Feelings she has in return. However, when she is summoned home due to a family issue, she is faced with the one man she has been trying to avoid. Their passion and cravings are still there. As is their love. Things are about to become deliciously messy and complicated.
Absolutely loving this trilogy and cannot wait for the next and final book. I loved that Esme found another man who understood her and completely got where she was coming from in the world that expected perfection, no real privacy and high expectations. She was trying to move on with Tristan so hard, replacing memories she had with Creed. Though that is proving to be quite difficult. Poor Creed having to watch it all and do nothing. Stings bro! Also, Esme's family situation does have a major downer but there indeed an upside. Someone steps up and totally rocks the show like they should have in the first book and it is great to see now. Cannot wait to see what happens next after that cliffhanger.
Fallen Knight is book 2 in the Broken Crown series. It picks up 9 years after we last saw Creed and Esme. They’ve both moved on with their lives, seemingly, but when they see each other again for the first time after so long apart, it is obvious these two never stopped loving each other, regardless of who else is in their lives.
T.k. truly is one of my favorite authors when it comes to intricately weaving suspense through her stories. Yes, this is a romance, a forbidden romance at that, but as we first witnessed in Royal Creed, there is danger and suspense, intrigue and mystery woven all through this series.
In Fallen Knight, Esme is no longer under the thumb of the royal household and has settled into a comfortable relationship with an amazing man, but is she just wearing a different set of shackles now? And this becomes even more obvious once she returns to Belmont and comes in contact with Creed once again.
Now that Creed and Esme are now back in the same place, the attraction they’ve always felt and all the emotions they’ve suppressed soon become too much to fight and the fire they lit all those years ago soon becomes a blazing inferno. But, still, their love is forbidden, so what are they to do?
Just when it appears they’ve figured out a way to be together, T.k. drops another huge bombshell cliffhanger on us! What the what?? Now we have to not so patiently wait for book 3 and what I’m sure is going to be a spectacular and climatic conclusion to this series! The wait is going to be torture!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
This is the second book in the Broken Crown Trilogy. You will need to have read Royal Creed before you dive into Fallen Knight or you are going to be lost. That book ended on a cliffhanger and Fallen Knight picks up right where we left off. We are back with Esme nine years after her accident and she has made a life for herself in Paris. She is trying her best to move on. She has a boyfriend she thinks she is in love with now and has left all things about the royal life behind her and she is finally finding some happiness in life. However all that is about to change with one phone call. She is needed back home due to a serious family issue with Anders. This will mean coming face to face with the man who made a decision all those years ago that destroyed their blooming relationship and as you can imagine she has no desire whatsoever to see him again. Creed. The man who she knew was going to be the one. The one to change her life. The one she really wanted with her whole heart. Things are about to get super messy and really complicated and I can't tell you a thing about any of that!! I can say that the second this book hit my kindle I devoured it. I didn't come up for air until I was finished. Even then I was struggling to catch my breath. Holy cow I swear no one can leave me on edge like T.K. Leigh with the endings of her books. I cannot wait to get the next book in my hands. I know that is is going to be on heck of a conclusion to this series.
Exceptional! After the cliffhanger in book 1 of this series, this installment couldn’t arrive fast enough!
This is book 2 in the Broken Crown Series and the author decides to add another interesting twist as it begins 9 years after the ending of book 1. So many things happened to these characters after 9 years apart. But family obligations come calling and Esme returns to Belmont from Paris. Discovering what has been happening in the home front with her family has her rethinking her decision to return to Paris. Returning home after 9 years brings up a lot of emotions of the things and people she left behind. Nothing prepared her to see Creed, but things are definitely not the same especially when she sees her ex fiancé and the job he now has!! This incredible story took me on an emotional, heart wrenching journey I never saw coming. Just when I thought the story was going in one direction, this author threw in some twists that stole. my. breath! The suspense, the build up, the sexual tension and intensity of their reunion was heart wrenching development of some unknown force affecting them. Flawlessly written, this story evolved and developed so organically I felt I was there watching! Esme and Creed are tortured souls who struggle with their emotional turmoil as they try to make sense of their heart and duty. However, there are a series of mysterious crimes that have too many coincidences is it coincidence or is it something else? The major jaw dropping development at the end only promises more greatness to come!
This is the second installment in the Broken Crown Trilogy-and remember that this one also ends with a cliff hanger! It's been years now and Esme has been able to pull herself outside of the royal life that she led. She has a different life with a boyfriend and everything seems to be going well. But she still feels like something is missing, she just doesn't know what. But when the call comes and she has to go home, the life she created for herself is turned upside down. Again. When Esme and Creed are thrown together again, she realizes exactly what was missing. But still has no idea how to make what she wants come about.
This story had my emotions all over the place. I wanted Esme to be able to move on and be happy but at the same time there is Creed. But then I also want to smack Creed around a lot for being (IMO) stupid about things. But then I flip back to them being perfect for each other and the sexiness of them off the charts hot! Then you add in the drama and the mystery and I was hooked! My only drawback, I felt really bad for her boyfriend. Maybe we will get a story for him to have a HEA at some point? Definitely well worth the read, but if you don't like cliff hangers then I would wait until the last installment is out before you read them. Because you definitely will need to read them all to get a complete story!
Fallen Knight is the second book in the Broken Crown Trilogy, so of course I knew there would be another brutal cliffhanger, and yet, it still did me in LOL! (You also have to read these books in order by the way.) Princess Esme is living free these days, and that's what she really wanted, but of course the grass is always greener on the other side. Things take a complicated turn when she's called home because of something big, and now she's back in her royal role for the most part. Honestly, she's never stopped missing Creed, who has been doing everything by the book, and it's been somewhat easy since Esme hasn't been in his sights, but now that she's back, well, he's back to being messed up when it comes to her. These two are perfect for each other but seriously, a lot is against them, and I swear I was about to have a nervous breakdown while reading this particular push & pull. The sparks are still flying of course, and that chemistry won't be denied either so you know, it was only a matter of time. There are still so many secrets out there that the twists are coming in hot, and just when I thought I had a handle on things, BAM! The biggest twist of all, and that's all she wrote. The concluding chapter cannot come out quickly enough as I sit here ready to lose it because I have to know, so I'll just call it quits here by HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING TO ALL!
As though we were not twisted apart in the first book, Fallen Knight again shows just how powerful T.K. Leigh is with the written word. I assure you; Book 2 of the Broken Crown Trilogy will leave you haunted among other things.
Creed and Esme’s story is gripping. It does not matter if they are together or separate, there is something that has bonded them for oh so very long. Absence has not waivered their passion since we last visited them, just their surroundings have changed.
Through it all, the mystery they both seem to be trying to figure out still avoids them. Small glimpses or snippets in the mind, only leave each of them trying to gather all the evidence and put all the pieces together. But for what?
Of course, T.K. Leigh has such a skill when it comes to a thriller that is really a slow burn romance. And you know how those slow burns can turn up the heat at any time. Yep, this author does it again. And just when you think the tide is turning, she did something else again! Cliffhanger queen strikes again…LOL
T.K. Leigh snagged me again, with an entertaining continuation of a great story. This one is well worth all the positive stars, and I cannot wait for her to provide the last installment.
I am not sure 5 stars is enough for this story. I didn’t realize how much I missed Esme and Creed until I dove back into their world. We pick up 9 years after the end of Royal Creed. Esme has found a new life for herself in Paris in her culinary experience and in a new relationship. When she finds out she must return home to see Anders life she built starts to unravel. Ah Creed Lawson…..he too has found a new purpose in his life since Adam’s passing. He is loyal to not only the Royal Guard but Adam’s son AJ and Rory. Their relationship is one of convenience and obligation. I wasn’t a fan of the relationship. I didn’t feel like Creed would have difficulty finding another woman to pass time with but I think it all filters back to obligation. Esme and Creed do their best to keep their distance from one another but subtle glances and small touches are enough to test their resolve. They try to respect the relationship Esme has with Tristan but they are like gasoline and a match. It only takes a spark to ignite their fire. There are sooo many things about this story that I loved. The story itself is engaging. The added mystery and suspense weaved throughout keeps you turning the pages. The angst between Esme and Creed and the current plight of Anders. I am anxiously awaiting the final book in this trilogy to see if Creed and Esme find their HEA, how things turn out for Anders and all the answers to the questions we are dying to know.
RECOMMENDED for those that like: bodyguard – royalty / forbidden / suspense

Notes/Opinion (personal thoughts):
Without giving too much away, this started with a band and didn’t let up, and now I’m waiting for the final book to Creed and Esme’s story. Their relationship is tricky and filled with rules that are just begging to be broken. And in the middle of it all is a life and death mystery that begs to be answered.
Wow and I mean WOW! This installment of the Broken Crown Trilogy was just as intense and devastating as the first and I mean that in a good way. From the very beginning my chest ached and that pressure never lessened the whole way through.
I loved seeing this even stronger version of Esme. She was just as bold and vulnerable as before but with the added insight of time and heartbreak on her side. Especially when she was pulled back into the world she didn't want to be a part of and brought her face to face with Creed.
There was never a dull second when these two were in each other's orbit. I could feel the pull, the longing and desire. It made my chest ache because they so belonged together and they were just stuck in this holding pattern. And when that heart stopping moment changed everything happened, I thought FINALLY YES!
But oh no. In true T.K. Leigh fashion another twist was waiting just around the bend. And with both Esme and Creed starting to trust their guts and question the string of events that changed the course of their lives, I know that the conclusion to this trilogy is going to be explosive. Gah! I can not wait to see how it all shakes out.
Time has passed and it seems like both Esme and Creed have moved on from their summer affair that turned out to be so much more than that. Esme is in a new relationship and living in Paris, completely relieved of her royal duties while Creed has committed himself to taking care of his brother’s family and following the rules. The hopes and dreams they shared were left in the past, broken and all but forgotten. Everything seems to be running as it should. That is until, yet again, fate brings them back together when Esme has to return to Belmont to help her brother. Once they see each other again, the past fades away and they realize the feelings are still there and stronger than ever.
Unbeknownst to them, the danger they faced nine years ago is still present. Certain things that were deemed “resolved” aren’t adding up. Questions remained unanswered. One person who can clarify some things shows up in a stunning cliffhanger. I cannot wait to read the conclusion to this gripping story. This story only keeps getting better.
This is the 2nd book in the Broken Crown Trilogy featuring the riveting continuation of Esme and Creed's story. This book picks up right where we left off in Royal Creed we're now in Paris with Esme and it's been 9yrs since the accident. She has made a life for herself here she has a boyfriend and she's trying to move on she's left her Royal life behind. Everything changes with one phone call telling her that her brother needs her help with a family issue and they need her to return home. Once she returns home so that she can help her brother she once again finds herself face to face with Creed time stands still and they realize that their feelings are just as strong as ever.I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this riveting story to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book and I'm looking forward to the conclusion to this AMAZING series!!!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
After Royal Creed and a good old book hangover, I told myself I'd wait until the 3rd Broken Crown book came out so I could read the last two books one after the other. But having Fallen Knight in my TBR pile was impossible to ignore: it just kept on calling my name until I couldn't hold off anymore! Man, are these book addictive, though. It was actually kind of rewarding to have this book follow the same timeline as Anderson and Nora's story because it ended up revealing more about what was going on with Esme. I absolutely love her and her fierce loyalty. As for Creed, the man is a Saint to be able to resist as he did. Seriously, the angst in this story is crushing and their impossible situation fascinates me to no end: what could possibly happen for them to reach their HEA? Well, we certainly get no clues in this book, lol! Meanwhile, the plot thickens and we get a peek at the dangers that lurk beneath the surface. I can't wait for the end of the story, but I'm still glad I got a bit of a fix of Esme and Creed!
Esme has moved on in her life and its been years since she left Belmont and her royal duties. However, now she is returning because of her brother. She knows she will see the man who owns her heart, again. But is she ready for it?
Esme and Creed’s chemistry is still there, even after all these years apart. The connection they had is something that will never go away. Creed knows that he can’t be with her. His duty is to taking care of his nephew and the CPO for Anders. Yet, he can’t stop wanting her and the same goes for Esme. They know they shouldn’t, but they can only fight the connection for so long.
This book is full of twists and turns from start to finish and of course, there is a cliffhanger leading into the third book. I can’t wait to see where things go between Creed and Esme.
If you’re looking for a forbidden, royal romance check this one out, but read book one first.
This book! This book is the equivalent of running an emotional marathon, its that good! Fallen Knight by TK Leigh is the second book in her Broken Crown Trilogy, and it's amazing.
It's been 9 years since the events in Royal Creed, book one in the trilogy, and Esme has moved to Paris and created the semblance of happiness with a new man and rewarding work. Until she's called home when her brother collapses from the same debilitating disease that took their mother from them. It also brings her back to the man she ran from all those years ago: Creed Lawson.
Returning to royal duties sets a countdown timer with seemingly random acts of violence against Esme. Those acts also thrust her back into the arms of the man she ran from. They also cause Esme to question the findings for the attack that caused the death of Creed's brother.
The royal court is still there, though their silence since Esme's return doesn't mean they've backed down, just gone quiet. But emotions are high, giving this story that edge of danger and intrigue. The final revelation at the end will leave your mind spinning, it's what Leigh does best. Ms Leigh walks you right up to the edge of the cliff, and pushes.

TK Leigh works her magic again! Esme thought she'd carefully closed the door on her past with Creed and all her feelings for him. But when faced with close proximity again both Esme and Creed struggle with all their feelings flooding back to the surface again. Nearly a decade has gone by and so many things have changed, but so much is still exactly the same as it ever was.
I love the chemistry between Esme and Creed and the tension that's multiplied by all the years of angst and heartbreak between them. This book is an amazingly well done balance of spicy steamy times, deeply emotional connections between characters and side characters, conspiracies, suspenseful scenes, and so many questions. All topped of with a cliffhanger that left me wanting to retrace everybody's steps from the beginning and counting down the days until the next book releases.

I have such respect for this author as not only is the romance top notch, but she adds such depth to her plot that you never really want the book to end. This is probably one of my favorite body guard romances that I have ever read. The push and the pull between the 2 main characters is *chef's kiss! I also love that the characters are in their thirties and there is no unnecessary childish drama.
** Slight spoilers ahead- beware!!! ***
This book does contain some other man/other woman storylines- which I also found refreshing as most authors veer away from that in order to appease the masses. I, on the other hand, appreciate it as I find it makes the book more believable and it kept me invested as I wanted to see how it all plays out. This book ends on a cliff- can't wait to find out what happens next!
I'm so addicted to this story. The intense, crazy, hot, sexy story is a whirlwind of everything a good book has. This review is based on Fallen Knight, since I've previously reviewed the first book. Creed and Esme are brought back together after facing a life changing medical condition her brother Anders is diagnosed with. Bringing Esme back to the one place she didn't ever want to return to. Though involved with a handsome American movie star, she can't let go of her feeling for Creed. This is a fast paced, action packed, incredibly hot story. Trying to navigate their careers in the royal household and doing what's best for everyone, they once again leave things in the past. But will their careers, lives and obligations keep them apart once more? Grab this book and find out. I truly love this series. 5 star.
A total page Turner that had me picking up the book at every opportunity.
Its nine years on since Esme walked away from her Royal duties to pursue the life she wanted, rather than the one dictated. She was five years into a relationship with famous actor Tristan Hughes and was happy.
When Esme discovers her brother has been diagnosed with MS, the same disease that killed her mother, she drops everything to go home and help. What she didn't expect was how much being home would bring the past immediately back, including feelings and memories she had tried so hard to bury. But can she move on and go back to how her life has become with Tristan? Or will a life changing incident make it too much to continue down that path.
So many twist, secrets unveiled and getting nearer to the end of the book you are waiting for the other shoe to drop - Leigh does not disappoint.

I fell madly in love with Esme and Creed in the first book and was heartbroken at how that book ended. This book takes place nine years later, which I didn’t expect. Every single thing that I loved about that first book is still present. Undeniable chemistry, the forbidden romance, and all the sinister things that seem to make up a bigger picture that no one has figured out yet, make for a delicious and suspenseful story. One that has me salivating for the next book! Both Esme and Creed are still dealing with guilt over what happened nine years ago, despite their true feelings and desires. Can they find a way to move on from the guilt and the past? Can they make it back to each other? Read this amazing book to find out!.

After the heartbreaking way the first book ended, I couldn't wait to read this one. I was surprised that it starts off nine years later. Esme made it to Paris to finally live her life, even though it's not with Creed. She thought she had finally moved on with her life and with someone new. However, a crisis back home causes her to return. After gauging the situation, she decides to step back into her role as a working royal. An incident leaves her shaken up but also brings back memories from the night of her car crash. Creed tries to help her through it and it ends up bringing them back closer together. The cliffhanger leaves me wanting more. I love Creed and Esme together and it drove me crazy that she never told him what Adam had tried to do for him. I can't wait to see how everything ends.
