There are parts that are quite predictable but that didn't stop my enjoyment of the book. Once I started reading, I could not put it down. Filled with secrets being revealed and some things you don't see coming, I was fully invested in this story. The pace is steady, and the characters are well rounded. This was another quick and easy read.

Sarah seems to have all the trappings of an social media-perfect life, posting photos with handsome, adoring husband James, their big, beautiful, spotless home, and her fantasy wardrobe. The biggest news of all came just recently in the form of a pregnancy announcement, once again perfectly revealed to all of Sarah and James’ many followers. After a frantic phone message to her sister, Kate, Sarah disappears without a trace, leaving behind her purse, keys, cell phone, and clothing. James is distraught, in his kitchen, trying to figure out why there the smoke alarm is sounding, finding that it’s coming from the dinner-in-progress in/on the stove Sarah has left behind. James is desperate to find his wife before their social media-perfect image is ruined by people wondering where Sarah might have gone. Kate is the only one who knows that Sarah has run like this before, and she is terrified for her sister and unborn child. The more Kate digs into Sarah’s life, the more secrets she finds; seems Sarah was hiding something terrible. Now, Kate feels she is being watched as well as she and James befriend each other in the quest to find Sarah. Everyone is lying to Kate, and someone is desperate to keep these secrets; how far will that someone go to ensure they stay hidden?
*Note: contains spoilers*
“The Silent Wife” is a terrifying account of Narcissistic Borderline Personality Disorder, including gaslighting, lies, and secrets kept to cover what is really happening inside a home and relationship that looks perfect to everyone on the outside but is, in fact, abusive, controlling and one-sided. It left me breathless, flipping pages to frantically read where I know from experience the novel was headed. It’s amazing how easily people can be seduced by charm, and an abuser with BPD is most definitely charming—in the beginning of the relationship. It’s once that person has you in their grip that things change, the abuser becoming controlling, separating the partner from loved ones, friends, and hobbies so that while the abused partner feels quite alone while to the outside world, the “happy” couple has the “perfect” life and relationship. The charm of the abuser exudes to those outside so that no one could ever believe the partner is being abused. It’s an insidious, horrific, lonely existence, and somehow it makes the abused one feel ashamed. The plot is very much real for anyone who has experienced it, and for those persons (and other readers as well) the red flags are evident throughout. Ruth Harlow has presented a very well-written, cohesive, taut, tense psychological thriller (trigger warning for domestic abuse) with incredibly well-written characters and descriptives. I highly recommend “The Silent Wife” to all thriller fans, especially psychological thrillers, who aren’t triggered by BPD.
I’d like to thank Booksprout, Ruth Harrow, and Inkubator Books for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
I give this book 2 stars. I kept hoping it would get better; that at some point the plot twist would appear and redeem my review…and it just didn’t.
All of the characters mentioned in the book were just ridiculous. Kate was oblivious, and had a weak personality. There is no reason she could not or should not have looked for another job with the way her MIL was treating her; she needed to stop avoiding her husband and force him to have talk with her; and she became way too obsessed with finding her sister - and her sister’s husband. Cheating is never okay, even more when it’s done with your sibling’s partner. She was so willing to believe everything that James (who was a stranger to her up until her sister went missing) says, without question - even to the point of questioning the man she’s married to. Just really hard to like her in any capacity.
Sarah was hard to like; she appeared to be flighty, irresponsible, and over-the-top. All of these characteristics were likely increased by her use of ketamine, which is also not something you can just quit. She came through in the end for her sister, but still was not a likable character.
Chris was weak, and used his own guilt to throw suspicion on his wife cheating. He needs to grow up and learn how to tell his mother to stand on her own two feet - he is her son, not her husband.
James: how everyone did not see he was a narcissist from the beginning, I’m not sure. He gave me the creeps from the beginning, and it was not hard to tell that he was involved somehow..
The book felt very choppy, and was hard to get invested in. I thought the premise of the story was interesting, but it just didn’t connect with me. Overall, I was disappointed.

This is the first book I have read by this author.
I was originally drawn to this book by its eye catching cover and intriguing sounding synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that 'The Silent Wife - a gripping psychological thriller with a killer twist. Perfect for fans of Freida McFadden, K.L Slater and Daniel Hurst'. I am a MASSIVE fan of all three of these amazing authors so am looking forward to seeing if it lives up to this statement. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Headline Accent. I have yet to read a book published by Headline that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book.
This novel consists of a prologue, 68 chapters and an epilogue and is set over 3 parts. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This book is based in Chester and Blackpool, England 🏴, UK 🇬🇧. I always enjoy when books are set in the UK as I'm from Wales and have sometimes visited areas mentioned in the book. This makes it easier to picture where the scenes are set at times. I have in fact visited and holidayed in Chester on many occasions including this year and next year again so am looking forward to possibly recognising name places.
This book is written in first person perspective and the main protagonist is Kate. The benefits of books written in first person perspective are as long as they are well written it makes you feel that you are being spoken to by the protagonist and it can create more of a bond between yourselves and them.
OMG!!! SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!! WHAT HAVE I JUST READ!?!?!? Ruth Harrow you are an absolute writing legend!!! Absolutely love the constant unexpected twists!!
This book is fantastically written with vivid descriptions that absolutely grip the readers attention and puts them right in the middle of it all making your heart pound and you constantly second guessing.
A huge success by Ruth!!! This book has got to be one of the most heart racing books I've read in a long time, if not ever!!! It had me hook, line and sinker from the first page and I could not put it down!!! Every time I said one more chapter it ended on a cliffhanger and I just had to know what was going on!!! This kept on happened over and over until before I knew it I had devoured the whole book in one sitting!! If you are going to read this then clear your day because it is truly unputdownable. I started this yesterday afternoon and finished it at approx 2am, read it in one sitting and although I'm knackered today it was 1000000% worth it!!! Kate gets a call from her sister Sarah but as she is driving in work time and works for her awful mother in law Anne she lets it go to voicemail. When she finally managed to listen to the voicemail she is gripped by the voice of her sister saying she "doesn't know what to do" and that "‘I’ve made such a stupid mistake … I should never have done it …’". Kate drives over to her sisters house but when her brother in law James finally opens the door it's with smoke filling the room behind him and to discover Sarah is nowhere to be found. Kate and James get closer in the search to find missing Sarah and while this is happening Kate's relationship with her husband Chris is falling apart. Where is Sarah and who can Kate trust? This addictive page turner is ram packed with twists, deceipt, mystery, crime, suspense, tension and everything you could ask for in an absolutely gritty action packed page turner and will leave you questioning everyone and everything that is going on. Ruth's evocative writing ensures you are whisked away to Chester and Blackpool and left feeling the wind on your face and looking up at the tower. It keeps you constantly guessing who did what!! It is filled with friendship, romance, lies, crime, mystery, love, secrets, twists, turns and everything you could want from a psychological thriller along with some MASSIVE BOMBSHELLS which will leave you absolutely shocked!!! I for one was NOT expecting that at all!!! The fact that there wasn't just one bombshell that shocked me, towards the end it was like a war one of them and I was absolutely blown away. My jaw literally hit the floor!!! I don't think I have ever been as gobsmacked as I have after reading this absolutely gripping page turner! This book is rammed with suspense and tension and will keep you biting your nails, on the edge of your seat with your heart pounding while your flipping the pages because you just cant stop. Ruth when are you getting this made into a movie so I can be the first in line for it!!! I cannot wait to read more of this extremely talented authors books!!!
This may be the first book I have read by this very talented author but it most certainly won't be the last and I cannot wait to get stuck into more of her previous and future books!!!
There is a good mix of realistic, well rounded and strong characters which makes it a realistic read. All the characters were strong and realistic as well as hiding their own secrets. I was completely invested in each and every one of them. My heart went out to Kate who was getting it from all sides with stress, confusion, hurt and so much more. I really did feel for her after everything she had been through with Sarah previously plus everything else that went on in this book. Unfortunately this is the type of book that, because I know the outcome , I don't want to risk saying more about how I felt about the characters as I don't want to give anything away to future readers but I will say that I was annoyed, angry, upset, disappointed at the different ones for many different reasons!! Ruth's fantastic descriptions and writing skills really did make them jump out of the page and come to life! I won't go into any more information about any of these characters or other ones as I really don't want to give anything away to future readers. Regardless of whether you love them or hate them they each played their parts perfectly!!!
If you read one book on your life, make sure it is this!!!! I would love to see this turned into a movie and Ruth I really hope you are working on your next psychological thriller at this moment because this book will go far!!! A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS on what promises to be a MASSIVE success!!!
Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the first chapter of Ruth's 'Dear Sister' which promises to be just as addictive as this book and is one I'm definitely looking forward to reading myself!!
Overall an absolutely heart racing, nail biting, unputdownable psychological thriller with a bomb shell you will not see coming!!!
I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of 'Gone Girl', 'The Wife Between Us', 'The Woman in the Window', 'The Girl on the Train' ,Lisa Jewell, ,Ruth Ware, Paula Hawkins, Gillian Flynn , Freida McFadden, K.L Slater, Daniel Hurst. Shari Lapeni, 'The Wife Between Us', 'The Housemaid' aand anyone who loves a book filled with suspense and surprises!!
394 pages.
This book is just 99p to purchase on kindle, free with kindle unlimited and £11.99 in hardback via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!
Rated 5/5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

honestly didn’t love this one. overall it was a really interesting story about abusive and complicated relationships. i can see that the author was portraying the kind of love bombing that is so common among abusive relationships, the way someone can feel like your saviour who can fulfill all your needs when in reality they are controlling and manipulative. i just felt like i was yearning for some more depth from the relationships. potentially seeing the same things unfold from other characters perspectives, so that we could see how out of tune kate’s perspective was. i realise this was probably an intentional choice from the author, to only show kate’s tunnel vision perspective and show how convincing and real it was for her, but it left things feeling a bit flat for me. because right from the beginning sarah was telling kate how horrible james was, and kate just didn’t believe her? for some understandable reasons, but still i just felt like i didn’t have any buy-in as a reader. overall, an enjoyable enough read but not particularly inspired
I am always pleased to read a new Ruth Harrow novel. A brilliant idea of. Seemingly content wife who suddenly disappears without a trace in the middle of cooking dinner. I was invested in the story right from the start and intrigued to see where the story would lead. For me, it ran out of steam a little bit and as revelations were revealed and the plot evolved, it lost a little of the early originality. Still a decent read though and I look forward to this author’s next novel.
Thanks to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for providing me with an Advance Reader's Copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
This one had a lot of promise, but I kept waiting for a plot twist that never came. I was actually making them up in my head, and they kept getting wilder and wilder the longer you waited, but the book stayed the predictable course. Overall it was just ok for me. And yes, It’s exactly who you think it is.
Two sisters who have fallen apart, two marriages that are not doing so well, and many lies, deceit, and crimes are mixed together making an excellent plot and providing good entertainment for the reader.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Such a different story to what i normally read. Love that it looks like Sarah has a perfect life on instagram but things are not what they seem. Kate i felt so bad for aswel as her marriage started falling apart after she lost her baby ☹️ love the strong bond between the sisters.
A vanished wife...a crumbling marriage...and a web of explosive secrets...
This is the second thriller by Ruth Harrow I've read and she certainly knows how to pull you in. Although slow to start at first, it soon picks up pace as the reveals come and twists are thrown our way.
Sarah has a seemingly perfect life with her adoring husband James, her stunning house and in Insta-perfect life. But behind the facade is an unstable wife living a lie she no longer can. So in the middle of making dinner one afternoon, after a quick phone call to her sister Kate, Sarah silently slips out the door and disappears.
Kate is busy making deliveries for her monster-in-law's business where she is but a humble employee alongside her husband Chris, when her phone continues its ringing. Unable to answer as she is driving, she lets it go to voicemail. When she picks it up she is shocked to hear her sister's whispered voice full of apologies and regret. Leaving nothing to chance, Kate ditches her deliveries and drives over to her sister's illustrious Victorian home to find her husband in his home office out the back and the smoke alarm screeching its dire warning. Dinner, it seems, is burnt. And Sarah is nowhere to be seen.
Worried for her sister and her safety, Kate searches the house for clues to whatever Sarah may have taken with her. But it seems she has left everything behind - keys, phone, purse and all her clothing - taking nothing but the clothes on her back. Her husband James is distraught that she appears to have vanished without a trace, even more so that she has walked away willingly. Why would she have left a perfectly good life and husband who adored her? Unless she has fallen into old habits once again...habits that only Kate knows about. Kate is the only one who knows that Sarah has run away like this before, whenever she has felt crowded or doesn't want to face up to responsibility. And she believes that this is what has caused Sarah to run now. The looming possibility of motherhood has probably shaken her to the core, having just revealed her pregnancy to the world on Instagram shortly before her disappearance.
Kate's own life takes a battering as she focuses on trying to find her sister and there is no compassion or understanding coming from her husband Chris, and even less from her mother-in-law Anne. He shows little care for his wife during a time when you would think he would stand by her and even help her. No, he spends most of his time running errands for his mother and is at her beck and call rather than worrying about his wife and marriage.
So Kate's search for Sarah is primarily done alone with James lending a hand where needed. But Kate knows Sarah best and so it is a search she must undertake alone. But whatever answers she uncovers, should she share her findings with James? Or keep them to herself? Because the more she digs the more secrets she seems to find and she isn't sure what to believe. Exactly what is it that Sarah has been hiding?
But someone wants their secrets to remain hidden...how far will they go to make sure those secrets stay buried?
THE SILENT WIFE is a chilling read in parts. While it does start of slow with seemingly no real direction, it soon picks up as it becomes clear what's happened to Sarah. While there are only a handful of characters, none of them are particularly likeable but some even less so. This story is a perfect example of a narcissistic personality disorder, gaslighting and the secrets and lies told to maintain the facade. It does make for uncomfortable reading in parts.
I really have to question Kate's decisions throughout much of the book. And I want to slap her husband too. Honestly, what was wrong with the man? But Kate...why could she not believe her sister? She should know her sister better than anyone and yes, given her past, know how unreliable she could be. But really, she seemed perfectly lucid to me and yet Kate still refuted her claims. But her bad decisions didn't end there...but I will. You will need to read the book to shake you head at the stupid decisions she makes and circumstances she lets herself fall into.
Overall, a chilling read that was compelling with a steady pace throughout.
I would like to thank #RuthHarrow, #Netgalley, #InkubatorBooks and #ZoolooTours for an ARC of #TheSilentWife in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first book I've read by this author; but after reading this I immediately purchased the other books I could find by this author and put them on my "gotta read" shelf of my Kindle!! Yes, I really enjoyed this read!! There were interesting characters (some you just love to hate; and some you keep trying to figure out) and LOTS of plot twists and turns I didn't see coming! I kept wanting to anticipate and guess who was "the guilty one" but based on reading my guess kept shifting! In the end, one of my guesses was right! ;-) But I was drawn into the story and captivated all along and found the ending rather satisfying! Well done! I highly recommend this book!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this read, it was well written with a compelling storyline and characters that were really well developed and some of which I really liked.
The storyline is tense and gripping and had me hooked from the very start. It was perfectly paced with a good amount of twists and turns, some of which i predicted, however, I didn't care because I was enjoying the book so much.
I would highly recommend this if you love thrillers
4 stars. That was a rather complex and compelling read!! Lots of juicy secrets and deceptions. Unlikeable people doing unthinkable things. It was pretty apparent to me early on what was going on - at least I had my suspicions. I really like when I'm reading a book and I want to shout through the pages to the characters, which was definitely the case with this one!
1.5 rounded up to 2. The main character is dumb, naive and makes ridiculous unbelievable decisions. This is not as much a thriller as it is more of a domestic suspense story. Lots of loose ends as well.
Synopsis: Sarah seemed to be living her best life, pregnant and Instagram perfect. But one evening, half way through cooking dinner, she vanishes into thin air, her keys, her handbag and her belongings all left behind along with her confused husband, James. The pans are boiling over, the fire alarm is screeching and he is completely alone. He is determined to get their once perfect life back on track with help from Sarah’s sister Kate. But Kate knows Sarah has done this before and this leaves her terrified. Kate soon begins to dig for answers and doing this, she begins to question her sister’s life once more, realising there are more secrets than she thought, and Kate is now fearing for her own safety because she is being watched. Someone out there wants these secrets to remain hidden, just how far will they go to make sure this happens?
Review: Thank you to Zoe at Zooloos Book Tours for my space on this tour! When picking up this book, I was hit with a powerful opener, the prologue gave absolutely nothing away but definitely grabbed me! As I began reading, I was pleased to me met with short chapters! My favourite, they really do help me connect with a book.
I soon noticed that the author liked to leave the reader hanging at the end of a chapter too, this generated questions and urged me to read on as I needed these answering. I really appreciate that we were thrown into the story straight away, there was no messing about and I loved it.
I was very intrigued to find out more about Sarah and her life. It didn’t take me long to be wary of certain characters, especially the husbands in the story. However, I soon found that I was beginning to be wary of the majority of characters, I really didn’t know who could be trusted. I like how the author also created some characters that really got under my skin, I wanted to reach into the book and shake them at times.
I really enjoyed the tense and suspenseful build up and as for the climatic ending, that was just wow! I did manage to predict some parts right, but this didn’t spoil anything for me, in fact, I found this quite satisfying. Despite the book being predictable in parts, this really didn’t spoil the read, I just appreciated how well plotted it was and the fantastic twists and turns. I connected well with the authors writing and this read quickly became a book I’d put down only if I had to!
Kate Bennett is having another busy day making deliveries for her mother-in-law stationary business so when her phone rings she can’t get to it by the time she does she sees it was her sister who she never talks to and she left a message. The message says Sarah is leaving this salarms Kate so much she goes to Sarah‘s house to see what is up. She finds her brother-in-law James in the house with the smoke alarm going off and flustered he has no idea where Sarah went. This begins the mystery of her missing sister. All this on top of the fact her and her husband Chris have been having family issues and her mother-in-law has been treating her like crap she take solace in the fact her best friend Kiersten also works for her mother-in-law and find comfort in their friendship. The longer her sister is missing however the closer her and James become and at first Kate is uncomfortable With how she feels when she is close to James but it is nice having someone else to talk to. She finds out her sister call a boss the black pool but when her and James go to investigate a siding they come up empty but have strange feelings about the visit not to mention a few days later when Kate is delivering a package the Blackpool she sees Sarah‘s ex-boyfriend and after what he did the last time they were together Kate is really worried. Soon everything crosses in intertwines in the more answers she gets the more questions she has when she finds out things that will not only affect her missing sister but her life as well. There is so much I want to say but don’t want to give any key plot points away because all I knew was that her sister was missing the husband was worried and it made for such a better read this book was way more than I initially thought it would be and it was really good if you’re looking for a great thriller to read then you definitely need to read The Silent Wife it was so good in the book I highly recommend. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Kate’s sister, Sara, seems to have the perfect life - huge house, wealthy husband, and a baby on the way. Why then does she go missing in the middle of preparing dinner? Kate and Sara’s husband, James, join together to try and find Sara. Kate knows all of Sara’s past and knows she has disappeared before. While all this is happening, Kate is also trying to deal with problems in her own life, from feeling distance growing between herself and her husband, her job frustrations, her mother-in-law controlling everything in her life (since she is her boss and landlord and has Chris, Kate’s husband, on constant call do do her errands and help her fix things). The characters are somewhat interesting, but I felt I could have used more background as to how the characters arrived at this point in their lives. Kate’s decisions didn’t always make a lot of sense, especially if she is trying to work on her marriage. There is a lot of mystery in regards to her missing sister. I don’t want to give anything away, so I will say I did enjoy this book, but I also was a bit let down in the end, it was somewhat predictable. I would give the book 3 stars out of 5.
Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for this digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Inkubator Books is a publisher who have published excellent books from the first day I started reading their books. The Silent Wife by Ruth Harrow is yet another fabulous psychological thriller to add to their list of stories I love.
A wife who vanishes while making dinner leaves no traces at all. This had me from the off! I was hooked. I was intrigued to know where Sarah was and what had happened. This is a total 'one more chapter' book. Yes, one more chapter until I had finished it that is!
Ruth Harrow has created the characters in The Silent Wife to be very believable and realistic. I rooted for the main characters at one point or another as the story unfolded. The tension had me on the edge of my seat as I flipped the pages as fast as I could.
The fact Ruth Harrow has interwoven a truth about our lives today into this story adds to the thrill of finding out what the truth actually is. The fact that all the characters aren't what the reader thinks adds some more to this psychological thriller. A great story which I can definitely recommend. Thanks to ZooLoo's Book Tours and Inkubator Books.
Pregnant and living an Insta-perfect lifestyle, Sarah seems to have it all. But one evening halfway through making dinner, she vanishes into thin air leaving behind her keys, her handbag and James, her bewildered husband.
The pans are boiling over and the smoke alarm is screaming, but he is alone in the house.
Keen to get their picture-perfect life back on track before their followers start wondering where his wife is, James desperately tries to find her.
But her sister Kate is the only one who knows Sarah has run like this before. And she's terrified for her sibling and for the unborn child she is carrying.
The more Kate digs for answers, the more questions she has about her sister’s life – it seems Sarah may have been hiding a terrible secret. Even more worrying, Kate is now having her every move watched.
Someone out there wants their deadly secrets to remain hidden. How far will they go to make sure those secrets stay buried?
A chilling thriller of a read. Really enjoyed the layers to this story. Perfectly written. Will recommend to others.
Another brilliant psychological thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat and racing through each chapter.
Sarah has the picture perfect life....and used it well by being a social media influencer. Her sister Kate is having troubles in her marriage and at work, her mother-in-law being her boss and not so pleasant a person. When Sarah goes missing, Kate turns to James, Sarah's husband, to find some answers....but the more they delve, the more becomes apparent.
I really wasn't sure about the characters at all, but this added to the suspense and the total feeling of mis-trust (maybe I was just being paranoid) I had throughout. It made me start to formulate theories, which were obviously all wrong and it had me depsperate to get to the end to see the final twist.
The writing was gripping and although not a super fast-paced book, this allowed the mystery and suspense to ramp up and I was completely immersed until the last page.
A really well written story with a well thought out plot and great characters that suited this genre perfectly. Loved it!
It's incredibly easy to give The Silent Wife 5 stars. This is the first Ruth Harrow book I have read, and it's completely blown me away!
Kate sees a missed call and a message from her sister Sarah. The message is Sarah telling her she "can't do it anymore" Kate rushes to Sarah's house to find a lot of smoke and the fire alarms going off. Inside, she finds Sarah's, very confused husband James. Sarah up and left in the middle of cooking.
For months, Kate and James spend countless hours searching for her and trying to figure out why she has gone. As time goes on, more and more unexpected secrets arise, leaving James and Kate with more unanswered questions. Not to mention the rocky marriage that Sarah is clinging hold of.
I was gobsmacked at the amount of secrets and revelations included in this book. I thought I had figured some of it out, but my theories soon thrown out as unexpected were thrown in the mix. It was an amazing read
The Silent Wife is a standalone psychological thriller by Ruth Harrow.Focusing on the life’s of Sarah,James,.Kate and Chris. One day Sarah walks out of her perfect life whilst cooking dinner,is her life as perfect as it it seems. All the characters in the book were realistic and believable, but my favourite character was Sarah, behind her fragile exterior was a strong woman, prepared to leave everything she knew behind. My favourite part of the book was the ending as bit by bit what Sarah has been saying reveals itself to be true. The story was intriguing and captures your interest from the first page, and carries a very strong message about life is never as perfect as what Social Media would have us believe. A fantastic read for any fans of this genre. Bookworm rating 🐛🐛🐛🐛/5
3/5: Thanks to Inkubator Books, NetGalley and Ruth Harrow for an e-ARC in exchange for a my honest review.
I finished this quickly, so I round up to 3 stars but ultimately this one was just an okay read for me. The characters were all pretty lackluster and the middle of the book was redundant and felt like it dragged on and on. I kept waiting for a bombshell level twist to make this book come together and it just never came. I may try another one from this author, but I definitely won’t be reading this one a second time.
From the outside Kate has everything, but behind close doors it's totally different. Kate's marriage isn't in a good place, her boss, who is also her mother-in-law isn't a very nice person. James and Sarah, Kate's younger sister has gone missing, but it's not just her, she's also pregnant. Sarah's life is the total opposite to Kates. or was it? Kate starts looking for Sarah and nothing is what it seems. There are plenty of twist and turns, as well as secrets and lies. The storyline was well wrote and it had me for chapter one.
Kate gets a mysterious voicemail from her sister, Sarah. Sarah can’t believe she did something and is scared. When Kate calls her back she does not get any answer. This sets off the search for Sarah and has widespread impact on many peoples lives. What I liked about the book was all the unknowns. Just when you think you know what will happen next, the story moves and goes in a different direction. If you like books that keep you guessing you will enjoy this book!
The beginning hooks you right off the bat! Keeps you engaged and curious as the story continues. Simple to follow and read kept me going while wanting more. This book does have the shorter chapters that I enjoy so I can move along without feeling log winded. Will recommend to many!
The book was definitely too long and slow to start. It did pick up. It was hard to like the characters. The twists and turns kept things interesting though!
