Check out masthof.com for more great books like this one! This touching story of an Amish mother's five-year-old son killed in front of their Lancaster Co., Pa., farm, was written by the mother. Feel the pain, the shock, the stress, the doubting, the love and sympathetic family and friends, but most importantly, the hope that one can truly experience in facing a heart-breaking loss.
I found this book on top of a tall dresser. I added it to my list. When I opened it to continue reading, I realized I had actually already finished it. Ha ha! that was some time ago, so I don't remember it that well to write a review. It was a very touching book written by an Amish mother whose young son was killed by a car. At the end is a very touching piece by the state trooper who had been called to the accident. I am fascinated by books about the Amish, after my visit to Paradise, PA, in 2008.
This author is a friend of my parents and cleans house for them. My parents were amazed to learn all that had happened to her family in God's wise providence. Losing a child is a horrible experience that both the author and my parents know all too well. Esther Smucker shares honestly what feelings and thoughts were experienced by each family member and others who witnessed the accident scene. Accidents of this kind sadly are not uncommon in the Amish community.
