A good book exploring the theoretical underpinnings of Charlotte Mason approach, but I was hoping for something more practical. Also the language was quite old fashioned and the author gave a lot of personal opinions which gave me a chuckle from time to time, but was distracting.
This is my favorite book about the Charlotte Mason philosophy. Unfortunately it's hard to get - I bought my copy in England.
The full title is actually "Charlotte Mason: A Pioneer of Sane Education
It's only about 80 pages but really a wonderful presentation of CM's philosophy and suggestions on a curriculum.
The author, Marian Wallace Ney (1923-1991), was an American remedial reading expert who became acquainted with CM ideas when her daughter attended a PNEU school in Scotland in 1954.
After Ms. Ney herself completed the PNEU Study Course with honors she sought to bring the CM philosophy and PNEU practice into American teaching.
This little book was apparently written as part of her degree work at Hofstra University in 1981.
