Evil, Inc.

Rate this book
Ken Olson thought he had it all--a loving wife, a beautiful baby, and a career on the fast track. But soon after his big promotion, his whole world is shattered by a monstrous crime. A crime committed by the CEO of his own company. A crime his company will cover up at any cost.
Stripped of everything but his passion to bring the CEO to justice, Olson uncovers the dark and dangerous world behind the corporate jets and executive mansions--the private armies of mercenary killers who do the corporation's dirtiest work under the guise of "plausible deniability," the offshore banking havens with their clandestine black-hole accounts, and the relentless greed of the lucky few at the top.
Olson's struggle pits him against a host of deadly rivals--the most brutal killer in the international private military underworld, the network anchorwoman with a beautiful face and not a hint of conscience, the aristocrat who pulls the strings of power and never dirties his hands, the hot young actress who makes sex a tool of deception, and, of course, his own chief executive, a bloodthirsty psychopath who has hijacked the corner office.
Set against the backdrop of today's business world, where mega-mergers slash thousands of jobs and yield million-dollar executive payouts, Evil, Inc . is a thrilling, ticking time bomb of a story--a tale of one man's fight against the vicious, backstabbing politics of the corporation, where ruthless power mongers rule and human life counts for nothing against the bottom line.

Corporate thriller thing. Nothing standout about it. The characters one should like aren't likeable enough and the characters one should dislike aren't hateable enough.

Evil, Inc. was the best title for this one. I truly hope that what I read never happens in real life. It went beyond evil.

I am surprised at the low ratings for this. I enjoyed it and, toward the end, was racing through. I would like to think this could never really happen, but I believe in some form it does.

First of all, I'm throwing a flag for excessive use of the word, "smirk." I believe that one time or another, every character in this book smirked. Aside from that, this was just not a great book. It's trying to be plausible but it fails. The bad guys are willing to wipe out hundreds of people to get promoted? Silly. The writing style wasn't bad and the story picked up steam towards the end. The character development wasn't bad either. But the plot was too hard to accept.

I paid $2.00 USD for this book and that WILL factor into my 4/5 star rating. I’m actually sort of embarrassed to admit this but I really enjoyed this book. As someone who works very far down the corporate totem pole, I often wonder what kind of nasty tricks and ploys are used to move up at the highest ranks. “Evil Inc” explored just that.

There were some sections of the book after Ken Olsons wife had died, and he was alone in the house, that were difficult for me to read. The overwhelming feeling of loss and guilt and rage and confusion were palpable as I was turning the pages. That was the best part of the book for me, I enjoy when an author is truly able to make me feel the anguish that the character is feeling.

Overall, this book was pretty good. I could have done without the final superhero showdown between the good guy and bad guy. Sort of predictable but like many others have said, impossible to put down. I loved the cover art and the downfall of the greedy elites. Decent book.

This book was ok. It started out strong, then the author used a tragedy similar to one of the worst tragedies in US history that somewhat turned me off. I kept reading because I had to see who was really responsible. It had a twist you could see coming, then it was just a bunch of filler until the main character was able to face the bad guy.

A friend loaned this book to me; she said it was really good. It was okay, a corporate thriller, which I never read. It picked up as it went along and I wanted to finish it. I find the greed and lust for money and power disgusting!

I enjoyed this thriller and shouted and cheered for the main character through the whole book. A little predictable but still worth the read if you like murder mystery!

An ok book about corporate greed and what people will do for money.

Rather predictable story with some weak plot points.

How do you make a book about the corrupt liberal elite so boring?

A fatal explosion that kills a thousand workers at Ayvil Plastics leaves divisional manger Ken Olson widowed and wrongly accused of negligence. He devotes his ruined life to exposing the truth, employing his P.I. brother-in-law to help him. Their quest takes them up the corporate ladder and through offshore bank accounts in search of the men behind the deadliest factory accident in U.S. history. Critique
Although a little predictable, this ordinary man vs. the corporate greed machine thriller is one you'll find hard to put down. Highly recommend.

A horrific story about evil in the business world. I wanted an escapist type novel, that was very different from what I have been reading lately and brother did I get it! This book is very well named as this story is truly evil. The story is seamlessly tailored and sits with you a while. My goodness.

I picked this up out of pure curiosity. I thought it was a very good thriller set in a business atmosphere. Sure there are some cliches here and there but it was an overall good read. The story is about a horrible workplace disaster that may not have been an accident. One man must find the truth before something similar might happen again.

SPOILER ALERT

This book started out interesting but when they killed the best two characters off in the first 50 pages I read another hundred pages and then put it down. ugh!

The premise of this book is interesting and different from many other thriller/mystery novels. I thought that the story had a strong start but then it took some unexpected turns that I didn't think worked as a whole. Also, I wasn't sure that I liked or believed in the main character.

Listened to this book on my way to Long Island. Something was wrong with the 3rd disc and I had to skip the whole thing. Didn't seem to affect the book at all. Not the best read ever, but not awful either.

Evil in the business world. When you see the real life salaries of the big business CEO's, you might wonder what they'd do to keep making that $$$. This book may provide some ideas. Very enjoyable.

A bit over the top to make it not really believable. OK listen, but not going to be very memorable.
