White Spider

Rate this book
Two superpowers face off at the top of the world. Between them stands one man — his name is Breed.

The Marshal Zhukov , a Russian submarine, has sunk without a trace. The Americans know where the wreck lies, the Russians don’t.

Anya Stein is running an operation to salvage the submarine and its hypersonic cruise missiles. The Spider , a top secret research vessel, will lift the wreck from the floor of the Greenland Sea.

Everything goes according to plan… until Stein’s right-hand man on the Spider is murdered. Stein rushes Breed to the Spider to find the killer.

Breed finds himself entangled in a web of mystery and violence. He is faced with a beautiful Norwegian intern, a veteran sea captain, an eccentric doctor, and a psychopathic SEAL. Any one of them could be a Russian agent.

When hijackers seize The Spider , Breed finds himself fighting for his life. And that’s not his only problem. An American destroyer and a Russian warship are racing to recover the missiles and Breed and The Spider are caught between them.

In the final stunning battle, Breed, the hijackers, and two nuclear superpowers face off in a high-stakes conflict at the top of the world.

White Spider - Book Six in the stunning Breed action thriller series. Perfect for fans of Jason Kasper, Jack Carr, and Lee Child.

Wow, what a fantastic book. White Spider is one of the best in this series about brred by Cameron Curtis. The Spider is about to salvage the russian submarine The Marshal Zhukov when an american agent goes missing and Breed is called upon to find out what happened to him. This is non stop suspense and a lot of action and betrayal from start to finish. I am glad I discovered this author by chance and now six books into the series I do like his creation and the trouble he faces in different parts of the world. Breed is an ex special forces soldier who does dark missions for the CIA and the books are well written and hard to put down. I must once again thank Inkubator Books and Netgalley for letting me read this advance copy.

Deceptively good

As soon as I saw the drawings of the Spider, I thought this was going to be a long book about sea travel and being cooped up. Didn't think much could happen aboard a ship. I should have known better! Loved that some of my assumptions were only half right, little twists that surprised me and made things interesting.

White Spider by Cameron Curtis
A Breed Thriller #6

Intense, action-packed, thrilling addition to this excellent series ~ Couldn’t put it down!

What I liked:
* Breed: intriguing, lethal, intelligent, ex-military, sniper, independent contractor, battle-scarred, survivor, attractive to women, someone I would like to have as a friend
* Stein: CIA Director of Special Situations, intelligent, strategic thinker, capable, hard worker, dedicated, intriguing, not infallible
* The plot, pacing, setting, and writing - impeccable
* That I felt I was there with Breed and a part of the story – and yet really glad that I was NOT there in the cold and facing what he did
* The twists, turns, and surprises that kept occurring
* Finding out what was REALLY going on as Breed figured who the bad guys were and what their motivation was
* Wondering what Breed does when he is NOT working for the Stein and the CIA
* That it ties in, somewhat, to the current news of the submersible that was lost while taking passengers to see the Titanic
* All of it really, except…

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Having to wait for the next book in the series

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely

Thank you to NetGalley, Inkubator Books, and the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

So I just perused the reviews and saw a poor one from someone who was former military. I get his reasoning but for those of us not in the military it was full of action.

Breed is tasked by Stein to head to a ship (White Spider) near the Arctic that is going to salvage a Russian sub that was full of their newest tech along with a number of (Kestrels) or bombs that could be adapted to be nuclear. Their previous person on the ship has disappeared and Breed needs to find him or find out why.

On land prior to getting to the Spider, Breed meets Noa a scandinavian intern also going on the ship. Their helicopter to the ship needs to get there in a storm with one mid flight refueling that doesn't work and causes the pilot to ditch the craft close to their destination. All but the co-pilot survive.

As Breed aclimates to the ship the size of numerous football fields, he finds an old enemy (Knauss) and three separate factions with different agendas regarding the Kestrels. Breed is alone against a lot of former military, kills most and determines everyone's agenda.

A bit convoluted at times but still good.

This is another book filled with suspense and action in the Breed series. When an American agent on board a ship sent to salvage a Russian submarine disappears, Breed is sent to investigate.

As usual in this series, there is a lot of action and I liked the extra intrigue here in what is essentially a locked room type of mystery as everything is set on the ship. An old enemy of Breed is also on board and the bad blood between them provides further promise of more violence. At the same time, the race is on to reach the submarine first as the Russians are also on the way. Breed doesn't know who to trust and I found the tension quite palpable the more I read. A top quality read in a terrific series.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Heart still thumping!

This is my second review ever. I love books like Shantaram and A Gentleman from Moscow. For this genre, a fast action thriller, I could not rate it higher. It was fabulous. Breed, like Reacher and Rollins and James Bond, like Superman…rarely disappoints. I learned stuff. Fast is slow. Hooray for Delta Force, Navy Seals, all who work so hard, keeping us weaklings safe. Cadfael makes me laugh and cry. Breed scares me almost to death. Lots of violence, but somehow not sickening… necessary to combat evil. Now I will recover by reading my British detective novels, but when I’m up for more excitement, I will come back to Breed. Who am I kidding? I’ll start another one tonight.

White Spider - My first and last read by Curtis. Being ex-military, educated and experienced, I could not believe the dribble in this book. If it were a movie, it would be some low budget garbage from a third world country. Pretty sure, even Stegal and Snipes would decline. Not realistic. Poor writing style. No clue about this world he writes about and the main character had me gritting my teeth two pages into chapter one. There was no improvement and I bailed around the 50 percent mark. I could not get into the characters, the dialog, or the lack of reality. 2*

Cameron Curtis is an up and comer for sure.

This Breed series has been mostly excellent, a tad formulaic, but this book is one of the better ones. There are several Kindle Unlimited series that I look forward to and this is definitely one of them. If you are a fan of the Tom Keeler, John Kovacs, Arlie’s Cutter, or David Rivers books than this book, and this entire series is right up your alley. If you are a fan of this book and haven’t read the others, then vice versa applies.

Another amazing Breed's novel!!!
Some similarities with "Close Quarters" as the action is happenning in a limited space of a ship... but this time the ship is not a river boat but a VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) so lot of space and hidden places on it.
As in "Close Quarters", it was like an Aghata Christie's novel as Breed needs to find a murderer investigating some clues... but sometimes not everything is like it looks.

I have read all of the books in this series in order and have never been disappointed. The book contains lots of action and modern day political detail which, in turn, makes the storyline more believable. A big thank you to the author Cameron Curtis and from me a well deserved 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Ambitious But…

Author Curtis obviously pours a lot of time and effort into researching and writing this series. Each thriller takes place in a different far-flung location with Breed being the constant. This book started strong and great action carried it through the middle but the ending carried on too long.

White Spider

The White Spider was a very interesting book with all the great characters that Mr. Curtiss include in all his books. I enjoyed this because it was about countries operating in the cold climate of the Arctic ocean. To operate the foreign north in a military operation very interesting.

Breed’s latest assignment has him encountering an old nemesis while attempting to retrieve some new generation Russian missiles – last known location, the bottom of the Greenland Sea. Be prepared to read in one sitting – you won’t want to put this book down until the very end!

Blood & guts thriller with a high body count

This is literally a "shoot-em-up" book, albeit with a very clever storyline. Lots of t.what's and turns with some characters who in reality are not what t.hey seem. The situation that evolves almost results in the start of World War 3.

TOPS

I’m going to stretch just a bit and say that this title is Cameron Curtis’ best. Eh. Maybe not. Hard to tell at the T1 level he works in. All of his novels are 5-Star. Bravo! All thumbs up.

White spider

Great tale even with a bigger than life and able to leap tall buildings with a single bound hero like Breed taking on all comers regardless of their numbers. The details were exquisite, whether describing a knife or the huge ship for which the book is named.

Good action and plot twists

The book has a lot of action and some surprising plot twist. Overall it's well written. with few typos. I took off a star because the ending leaves the reader hanging, possibly as a lead to the next book.

Action and accurate

Great series, I enjoyed the behind the scenes explanations of how Breed and the characters explained fighting tactics they used. I could not wait to read the next book and wish there were more than the 6.

Breed is Rapp

If your a fan of Rapp you will like Breed. He always finds a way to get into a jam and out of it. He gets directly ordered from the CIA. Nonstop action.

Murder and deceit plague Breed's mission. Russian missiles are the prize, but death haunts everyone on board the Spider. Treachery precedes Breed's arrival to the Spider and continues to the last chapter. Another great, spellbinding Breed thriller.
