I was glad to find this in my library since I've been curious about whether to buy it or not. From the recipes I've seen just flipping through, I think it may be a good one to purchase since corn and wheat allergies are dealt with nicely. Those who have nut allergies may not find this one quite as helpful.
It also talks about the Diversified Rotary Diet and has several recipes that will fit well into it. The bases of the diet is that foods or food families not be repeated within a 4 day period. While this seemed daunting to me given my limited diet, after writing down the foods I can tolerate, it might not be so hard. I still haven't tried it yet. Going a day without yogurt may be a stumbling block for me...
So, looks like a good, thorough cookbook with lots of other information besides. This may be on my Christmas list this year.
I've had this book for several years, and periodically return to it for help as I try to deal with a variety of changing food sensitivities. There is an incredible amount of information to help people navigate a new way of eating, from describing unusual foods and how to prepare them to setting out examples of how to eat a 4-day rotary diet. None of this is easy to master. Many of the recipes are bland but look at them as a starting point - depending on your individual palate and list of tolerable foods and spices, you can add anything you like for additional flavour. For anyone with allergies, autoimmune or digestive disorders, this book is a must-have.
I've tried making several of the recipes and so far nothing tastes very good, if it turns out. So far I've experienced burnt outside raw in the middle, tasteless, salty, tastes like unbaked flour and a nasty nasty texture. The only recipe that wasn't horrible was the Nutty Crunch Pie Crust, I used Cashews for the nut. The recipes may not be very good, although the author claims to have tested every recipe, but the information on the allergens and alternates you can use to substitute for are very helpful
I became interested in this book thanks to one of my homeschooling friends. There are a ton of recipes in here that don't contain sugar (or any artificial sweeteners) but use honey or guava nectar--and they are delicious. Part of my plan to eat healthy and live a long, fulfilling life with my family!
Interesting recipes with a lot of helpful tips on how different flours work with different recipes. Looking forward to trying this at our next office gathering.
