I loved how clear everything was - really easy to understand and lots of nice little tips and bits of advice. Also thought that the visuals were stunning :)
This was fun. It very clearly delineated the differences between each decades styles, it was well layed out, and it provided plenty of ideas for creating a vintage look.
This is the perfect starter book for any dame starting down the meandering path of vintage! It covers the basics of what you should know such as what is vintage, buying vintage, and labels to look for. Then it covers the looks from the 1920s through the 1980s. The summery list of day and evening looks is especially helpful! Lastly, it gives step-by-step instructions on one style (hair and make-up) for each era. Each chapter has helpful tips and there is a great recommended reading list. I highly recommend this book for any newbies like me! If nothing else, it’s a great table book because of the fabulous pictures and layout!
Nice look at key clothing trends 20's - 80's, including what was new in each decade, which is a nice feature, and how to identify clothes from different eras when you're shopping.
I was less enthralled with the hair-do's chosen, though the 20's finger waves looked good.
The makeup section was nice too, again a look for each decade.
Such an amazing resource for all things vintage. I learned so much about the art of styling and buying vintage. I was even inspired by a few of the pictures to try out some new vintage hair styles. I will read this again, and I would recommend it to vintage lovers such as myself.
