A bad spirit, a bad shifter, and a bad situation. I'm Kami, Japanese tool spirit, former villain, and wannabe good guy. The human body I now inhabit gives me a new set of physical needs plus empathy for those I've harmed previously. It also makes the wolf shifter Jack incredibly tempting, despite the fact he's captured me and locked me in a cage. Then a malicious ghost takes over Jack's body and I'm the one caging potential evil. Throw in a black-market operation harming shifters plus a blackmailing alpha and the future looks, well, black. Day by day, my grip on my human form weakens and my desire for Jack grows stronger. Will I give in to the darkness that threatens to consume me, or will I find the strength to fight back? Wolf's Choice is a thrilling blend of romantic urban fantasy, redemption arcs, and enemies-to-lovers tropes. Don't miss this heart-pounding conclusion to the Time Bites series .
Aimee Easterling is a USA Today Bestselling author writing on the boundary between urban fantasy and paranormal romance. She specializes in spunky shifters and invites you to dive into her werewolf world in the Wolf Rampant trilogy, the spinoff Bloodling serial, and her new Alpha Underground series.
Studying biology and working as a naturalist have both informed Aimee's writing, but she's quite willing to let reality slide in favor of a good story. When not writing, she loves to read and always keeps books by Robin McKinley, Patricia Briggs, and Elizabeth Peters on her shelf. You can learn more at www.aimeeeasterling.com.
Wolf’s Choice is the third book in the Time Bites series and it follows Kami, who we met previously. She has a human body now and is struggling with the added humanity (conscience, emotions, etc) that goes along with it. No sooner does she discover that Jack, Drake’s twin, is her mate, then she’s losing him as Ambrose possesses his body. Now she’s got to figure out a way to evict Ambrose before he can finish his evil plans, without killing Jack in the process.
At first, I was a little bummed that the main character was Kami as opposed to Tru in this book, but I quickly warmed up to Kami and liked seeing her grow as she adjusted to her newfound humanity. Jack was awesome and one of those characters that becomes everyone’s favorite book boyfriend. One of the things I like about the author’s works is that I never know how they’re going to resolve the mess the characters are in. It’s never as clean and easy as you might like it to be, but things always work out. There are also some fun cameos from characters in prior stories that added a smile to my face as I read the story. I definitely enjoyed this story and the entire series!
TIME BITES TRILOGY #3. A FABULOUS AND FITTING END -- LOVED IT!!!
KAMI - You might think you know her, but you haven't got a clue! I put off reading this advanced review copy for a couple of weeks because I wasn't in the mood for Mean Girl drama, but I was so wrong about her! I got hooked by her story immediately and read it in one great gulp. I couldn't put it down. I literally walk-excercized and made meals, and everything else with my phone on Kindle, glued to my hand. That rarely happens. I also want to revisit it when the audio comes out.
This plot is by turns, unique - funny -constantly surprising -heartbreaking -funny - sweet. My favorite books are those in which I never know what's going to happen next, and Aimee never disappoints. There are, "I did not see that coming "moments right through the last page. My eyebrows and eye muscles got quite a workout! Beyond that the character development is superb. Kami grows emotionally and philosophically while we get to see what made her the way she was all during the trilogy. Nothing in this book was predictable. What a rare treat! 5 Very Bright Stars !!!
Audiobook: I was entertained by book three as much as the first two books; however, I was very surprised by the twist in book three which I never saw coming. This book featured Jack's and Kami's story which was exciting and perilous. I thought the conclusion was awesome. Tru and Drake were still important; however, I felt that Tru and Drake played a more supportive role. I liked Alyse Gibbs' narration. I was given a copy of the audiobook through Spotify. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
I am not really into shifter romance anymore, but this author is so good, she makes me forget that. This is Kami’s perspective, and we really learn how she feels and how she goes through growth. I love Jack, and it was nice to see Drake and Tru again. This was full of interesting twists and turns, and I enjoyed myself. I have to admit that Kami isn’t my favorite, but she really grew on me by the end of this book. Speaking of the end, I was a little sad about how things went, but it was still a great happy ending. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Wolf's Choice, Aimee Easterling's finale in her Time Bites Trilogy, is a strong finish for this fantastic series. I love how Ms. Easterling always puts her own unique twist on standard lore. The storyline is fast-paced and very well written, filled with magic, sword fights, spirits, stolen memories and sweet true mate romance. The characters are well developed and engaging. Overall, a very fitting ending to a most enjoyable series!
Kami finally has a human body but realizes that it has many limitations. Saving one alpha from an evil ghost only to have it take over Jack, whom she has feeling for, and then trying to discover the identity of someone running a black=market ring which puts shifters in danger turns even mor dangerous when it gives the ghost ideas. In the end Kami will have to decide if saving people she has begun to care for is more important than her own selfish desires. Fascinating and well written characters. Kami and Jack ae especially compelling, and an insight into Kami’s origins was riveting. Action, magic, evil spirits, unexpected twists and a happily ever after. I loved this book and series which I remmend to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
I almost forgot what happened previously. Luckily, they connected the story beautifully in Kami's perspective. I love how they highlighted the human needs and emotions, something she neither cared for nor respected before. I received an advanced readers copy and am giving my honest review.
Aimee Easterling writes the best first lines. This relatively quick read started with a great hook and effortlessly captured and held my interest. I found the story confusing at times, but I loved the characters, and the unpredictable plot kept surprising me.
The star of this story is Kami, a Japanese spirit who is currently inhabiting a woelfin (shapeshifter) body. Being embodied causes her to develop human feelings, including love and regret, but she doesn’t trust herself not to lapse back into greedy spirit behavior. Although I initially found the story a little hard to follow (the timing overlaps with the previous book), I’m glad I stuck with it, because it becomes a really cool redemption story with a heartwarming ending. The mythology is intriguing, and there’s a very satisfying element of found family, with some great secondary characters previously featured in some of Easterling’s other series.
The audiobook is a fun way to experience this story. I enjoyed Alyse Gibbs’s narration, although her pacing is a bit odd at times in this book.
This is the third and final book in the Time Bites series, and I recommend reading the series in order. Although it’s not necessary, you might want to read the Kira Fairwood series and the Moon-Crossed Wolves series first to learn more context for this world and these characters.
Aimee Easterling reliably delivers fun shifter stories with exciting plots. If you enjoy contemporary fantasy or paranormal suspense with romance and humor, I highly recommend this book, and everything else this author writes.
I received an advanced reader copy of this ebook and audiobook from the author, and I volunteered to provide an honest review.
This is Kami's story. She is going to go through lots of transformations as she makes her way from hungry spirit to woelfin mate. There are plenty of events and entities waiting to trip her up as she tries to figure out how to be human/woelfin. Ambrose makes another appearance as he fights to remain corporeal. But Jack will steal the show as his dimples keep Kami going. Lots of old friends make an appearance (including Grub!).
I loved the story - evil is defeated and perseverance is rewarded. Enjoy. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
