John's return to London isn't going as smoothly as he'd hoped...though it's already been just as bloody as he could have expected! Enormous angels straight from the mind of William Blake are tearing people to ribbons in Peckham Rye Common, and the gang lord who's pressed John into service is getting increasingly impatient about John's inability to deal with them.
Spurrier continues to prove he really "gets it!" Great characters, conversations, occult references, smart writing, and John Constantine traversing a supernatural mystery. Updated and modern, it still manages to feel classic. If your an old fan of the original Hellblazer, you won't be disappointed here. It's like returning to a warm, cozy house of horror.
Constantine... A literary bouncer (who definitely won't ever duck John)... an incorporeal soul bound in a smartphone helping John Google... the local gang whose MO well exceeds knife crime... a veteran who knows his Blake... and some very scary angels. This is razor sharp Hellblazer in 2019.
