Robert Kirkman is an American comic book writer best known for his work on The Walking Dead, Invincible for Image Comics, as well as Ultimate X-Men and Marvel Zombies for Marvel Comics. He has also collaborated with Image Comics co-founder Todd McFarlane on the series Haunt. He is one of the five partners of Image Comics, and the only one of the five who was not one of the original co-founders of that publisher.
Robert Kirkman's first comic books were self-published under his own Funk-o-Tron label. Along with childhood friend Tony Moore, Kirkman created Battle Pope which was published in late 2001. Battle Pope ran for over 2 years along with other Funk-o-Tron published books such as InkPunks and Double Take.
In July of 2002, Robert's first work for another company began, with a 4-part SuperPatriot series for Image, along with Battle Pope backup story artist Cory Walker. Robert's creator-owned projects followed shortly thereafter, including Tech Jacket, Invincible and Walking Dead.
I really enjoyed the first two seasons of the television show, but was really impatient, and wanted to know what happened in the story. I wasn’t willing to wait years, so I began reading the entire series, and collecting the Ultimate Collection hardback volumes. I’m so glad I did. This is, without a doubt, the best comic series I have ever read. It is violent, dramatic, tragic, triumphant, gut-wrenching, hilarious and all-around a fantastic experience for any superhero fan.
Shout out to Ryan Ottley. His illustrations bring this story to new heights. He has a forever fan in me.
this review goes for the entire run of invincible, from issue 1 to 144. i really liked reading the book, and it's a great story from front to back. it has mostly great pacing and emotional development, isn't afraid to handle heavy topics (or deal with consequences) and shows a really thought out storyline. ryan ottleys art is also spectacular. so many of the characters are greatly expanded upon and go through their own development and it truly feels complete. it's not just a parody of the iconic superheroes of today, but tells its own story that's compelling, gripping, and entertaining.
This review is for all Issues of Invincible. Discovered invincible though the TV show, during season 2 there was a break and being impatient I asked my coworker to borrow his collection while I waited for new episodes.
Took me about 2 months to read through it entirely, and loved every second of it. Like any story there are low points, but through the entirety of the run I kept asking myself "How are they gonna top this" and somehow they did every single time.
Highly recommend this series to anyone who's seen the show, or enjoys Super hero media.
reading this was perhaps the best three days of reading I've ever had. I only read a handful of the first 60 issues and picked up right after the conquest fight, it only gets better after season 3 and I'm so excited to see how it's adapted.
