Second Chance Mistletoe Kisses
A common theme of single parents, with irresponsible exes. A mum down on her luck, pretty destitute, a negligent ex-husband, a story retold a million times.
Even the most accelerated of children at five, does not possess such perfect diction:
“This one? You know this one was in the back for a reason. It’s dead. Headed to the chipper tonight.”
Macie’s eyes widened. “That’s why I want it. It needs to live out its Christmas destiny. I don’t want it to be lonely.”
Quinn and Collin dated, but his father disapproved, she wasn’t girlfriend material. His father referred to her as a tramp, a white trash nobody who was going to bring him down; threatening his inheritance—the money he was using for school—if he didn’t end their relationship. So he cowardly broke it off intending to return after he no longer needed his father’s money to resume their relationship as though nothing had happened. She was then married to Ryan.
He left, never returning. The town holding too many bitter memories and regret.
“I know what I need to do.”
“I doubt that,” Ada said with a snort.
“What?”
“You run away, Collin. Always. That’s why you left in the first place. You tell yourself it’s because of your father, that you’ll come back and get Quinn later. You were relieved when you found her married to another man. She wouldn’t hurt you. Not if you kept your distance.”
He should never have allowed his father to say the things he did or allowed him to make the choice for him.
Ryan her ex shows up. He’s been dumped and wants to make another go at being a family.
Then his ex, Daisy, announces she’s pregnant.
Macie loves her father and promoting a broken relationship between the two of them did more harm than good. After all, isn’t that what Mr. Stewart did to Collin forcing his son to choose? She wasn’t going to do that to Macie. No one wants to be second choice.
Macie’s young now, but at some point, she’ll stop forgiving Ryan.
That’s the beauty of a new year. People can change.
Quinn, after years of betrayal, rejection and abandonment at the hands of both Collin and then Ryan, she’s learnt the art of self-preservation.
Years hadn’t diminished their feelings. He loved her more than he did the day he’d left. She was different. He was different. It was as if their pasts had led them to this moment.
Unfinished sentences noted.

Second Chance With the Billionaire
Hannah hasn’t been home in seven years after everything imploded on prom night. It was the night that the two most important people in her life betrayed her.
As a child, she invited someone to live with them, even though her mother was skeptical. Georgia was not who she said she was. She had burst into the house in tears because Logan had disappeared after their kiss. She’d searched everywhere at prom for him to find out he’d abandoned her. Hannah wanted her mum to reassure her, instead, the police were at their house. Georgia having taken all of her mother’s jewelry and heirlooms. She spent the night getting interrogated by her mum about Georgia. She’d gone to bed that night with a broken heart.
Three years ago, his father entered his life after being MIA since Logan was born. He had terminal cancer and wanted to make amends. He sold his multi-billion-dollar tech company a year ago and set up a trust for him. Logan, has always yearned to know his real father.
His dad had given him permission to do what he thought was best with the money. But all Logan wanted to do was pretend that it wasn’t there. Just take small amounts out so he could spend time with his daughter and quit all the odd jobs he’d had to pick up in the past to survive.
Instead his mother broadcasts his wealth to the town criers, pressuring him into spending it.
Secrets, he ran out on her prom night. How could he go back onto the dance floor after they’d kissed and tell Hannah that he’d gotten Charity pregnant? He had no idea that she’d pack up and leave the next day, never to be seen again. If he could go back in time, he would have handled things differently. He would have been honest. But now, the result of his deception was more deception.
He’s been ardently trying to reconnect with Hannah, his deception knows no bounds as his ex materialises and wants to try again. Hannah finally discovers that Piper is his daughter with Charity, whom he admits he found out about on prom night.
He deserted her that night because he’d just found out about the pregnancy and that she’d been taken to the hospital because of bleeding.
Every fiber of his being wanted him to kiss her. To wrap her up in his arms and love her like a man loves a woman. “Hannah, I—”
“I’m going to go find Samson. I suggest you find Charity.”
She had always been the one. As much as he wanted to deny it to protect his heart, he couldn’t, he loved her. (Then why did he get Charity pregnant)?
Two mismatched couples, Charity is materialistic and not in the least maternal, she only returned to grasp Logan’s money and Samson’s a manipulative snake, he doesn’t want children thinking only in terms of his own personal needs.
“Hannah doesn’t know what she wants. Once we’re married, she’ll start seeing things my way.”
Charity apparently cheated on Logan with one of his coworkers, she then emptied their bank account and vanished. It took him the better part of a year to track her down so he could get her to sign the divorce papers. By then, she’d already spent everything and would only sign the papers if he paid her. She cares nothing for Piper. Never asked for custody. Voluntarily gave him custody in exchange for money. She’s always promising to come get Piper, but then never shows up.
Unmitigated drama. I wanted to reach out and strangle the characters.

Second Chance at Christmas Inn
Two Broken Hearts. An Inherited Christmas Inn. And a Grandmother Determined to Bring Them
Holly has returned to the Christmas Inn, a condition of her late grandmother’s estate.
Stephen operates the Inn, it’s his livelihood and Holly’s there to destroy his hopes, to get the property appraised and listed. She was also there to resolve her differences.
She has the life she’d always thought she wanted in New York, an active social life and a somewhat blossoming career. It was what she’d left Ivy Springs in search of, but she was finding it harder to convince herself that she was actually happy.
Unable to wrap her head around how she felt about Stephen, she couldn’t fathom his reasons for being stuck in a small town as the caretaker of Christmas Inn. It really didn’t speak to the adventurous boy she remembered. He’d always wanted to leave and make something of himself. And yet, here he was, stuck in the one place they’d both dreamed of leaving.
After she left, her grandmother, Hope was emotionally distraught. He didn’t think she could handle losing him as well, so he remained for a time, as he was ready to leave with a full-ride scholarship to college (he planned to study engineering), his sister Blossom got into a car accident, she was drunk and hit a tree, leaving her in a wheelchair.
Her departure from Ivy Springs left a giant hole and mass destruction.
She hadn’t imagined that her breaking things off with him and leaving Ivy Springs would result in his being left behind, picking up the pieces that she’d left in her wake.
She’d tried calling him from the bar to see if he could come pick her up. But he didn’t answer, he was studying. Hope allowed Blossom and Isaac live with him at the inn. She gave Blossom a job, it took months, but finally Blossom came out of her depression accepting the loss of her legs, that she was never going to walk again and that her life had been forever changed. He never left because there were people depending on him.
The feelings she’d always had for Stephen had never really left. Ignoring her past was far easier than facing it.
Stephen wore his heart on his sleeve, and honestly, Holly was unworthy of his devotion-never considering the lives reliant on the Inn for their livelihood.
How many more times will she reject him?
She’d reacted awfully to a situation consumed by anger and resentment. She’d lived selfishly, in debt, selfish and unhappy. Cutting people out of her life.
People heal differently, her journey involved burying her head in the sand and dwelling on the past.
The end seemed rushed and tied up in a bow. The epilogue shared insight into Blossom’s feelings.
