Teer & Kard #3

Blood Adept

Rate this book
From the genre-blending master Glynn Stewart, author of Starship's Mage, comes the latest in his thrilling fantasy Western series, set in a new world with a magical twist…

Hard rides and long nights as a cattle hand prepared Teer for the harsh life of a bounty hunter on the Unity’s eastern frontier. His fate now tied to the disguised El-Spehari demigod Kard, his quick eye and steady shooting hand have kept them both alive—even when the bounty hunters decided justice required taking a fugitive beyond the reach of the Unity’s law.

The same law would see Teer himself doomed for the magical powers now awakening within him. He has followed Kard to a strange shaman who promises to train him—but when a monster turns on and slaughters an entire hunting party, Teer and Kard take up the hunt to protect friend and foe alike.

Their hunt follows the monster to the edge of the Unity, where the Spehari lords have sent an entire regiment to bring the monster down. But teeth and claws are the least of the dangers the creature brings to bear—and the monster itself is only one of many dangers Teer and Kard face as they walk among enemies to protect the innocent…

Quick Read, Excellent story

I don't know why I like a cowboy sci-fi story, but it works. Flynn Stewart does an excellent job to bring out the characters and have you relate to them even though you know they are not human. My only complaint is that it reads too quickly, and now I have to wait on the next book!

The adventure continues

I find it difficult to describe this short novel. Teer and Kard are back for a dangerous conflict on their alien/Western/steampunk world. The various magics used are distinct but not as a clearly defined system and it works. While the story is mostly one long adventure, it is captivating.

Raptors with mind magic, very original. Completed book 4 in this review

No option to review after book 4 so came back here. Very clean original series with old west merging with Jurassic park. Looking forward to the inclusion of other races as well, in the fight for freedom from slavery book 4 ends with. I'm hoping Storms mates and offsprings come back. If I was editor for a day I would meld book 1 and 2 and parts of 3 into one book. About 500 pages typical for an origin story, think Raymond Feists, Magician series. Then I would have Storms original dream scene as the ending and a cliff hanger to new book 2 which would be the Adept path initiating. A bit more of background on the Meric Adepts would be insightful. It's easy to see the evil "Eleven" type overloads from the Western sea another fantasy plus. Never trust elves a regular theme. Where did they come from ? Off world. Portals more than just another continent but only Glynn knows for now. I guess in a world with magic anything possible but a lot of humanoid races (one original race considering current inbreeding). Seeing gay couples as a normal thing also a societal plus. Anyway keep up the good work excellent reading in Mid 20's temps...

Glynn Stewart has a fun series set in another world’s wild west with magic. Teer had to leave the ranch he was raised on, even though his mother had married the rancher, because he wasn’t the heir. Kard is an El-Spehari’, the sterile result of a union between the elf-like Spehari’ and human. He fought in the El-Spehari’ rebellion and is in hiding, using magical illusion to hide his features. In Wardtown (paper) Teer and Kard meet and go after bandits who have been attacking small towns. In Blood Ward (paper) the two go after a girl who attacked a noble, and end up sending her out of Unity to live with one of the tribes.Blood Adept (paper from Faolan's Pen Publishing) sets the two facing real monsters that eat and absorb brains. They have to work with the Unity Army against these impossibly deadly creatures, leaving possible discovery of Kard’s true identity. Along the way Teer has learned he has inherited extra abilities that accentuate his senses and speed. Great series. Too long between episodes.

Grand Story Telling!

Wow. Spellbounding. Just finished the current 3 books available in: Teer & Kard.
The series has elements of a Western - horse's, cows, saloons, hard work and hard men surviving in a harsh environment. Then there are the alien over lord's. This alien aspect has layers upon layers that bring intrigue and are slowly peeled back as the series progresses. There is also magic - it too has layers. Fascinating. The two main characters - Teer and Kard - lead the reader thru one adventure after another. I hope the series evolves into a dozen plus books. It has started off w that level of potential.

Finally teer and Kard are back

This book is great as a stand alone novel, but I expected to find more about the red crystal thing destroyed in the second book. Don't want to expose more of books 1 and 2 but read them as soon as you can. Thank all my gods that glynn stewart is kindle unlimited.

Best of the series so far. Without giving away major spoilers there was a very neat solution to remedy a lack of training by a certain someone and I look very much forward to seeing how this development will affect future books. I hope it won't be too long before the next book is published.

good addition to this series

I like these stories although I find I need to mentally switch to them from space opera and action. They are compelling as are the characters and the setting.

Still a good read

Ride with Teer and Kard. I like magic. I like westerns. I even like horses as long as I don’t need to tend to them. This has all of that. I like the series. You might also.

Good Work Glynn

New genre of sorts but another excellent novel. Good protagonist and a novel magic system still being uncovered. Keep it coming.

A good tale

The author gives additional depth and backstory to the characters. Introduces some new ones I believe we will be seeing in future episodes.
