Shuzo Oshimi (押見修造, Oshimi Shūzō) is a Japanese manga creator. Drawn in a realistic art style, his comics tend to be psychological dramas exploring the difficulties in human relationships and often touching on disturbing situations and perversions. Oshimi debuted in 2001 with the manga series Avant-Garde Yumeko, appeared in Kodansha's 'Monthly Shōnen Magazine.' Most of his works since then have been published by Kodansha and Futabasha. Among his first successes the single volume manga Sweet Poolside (2004), later adapted into a live-action film, and the series Drifting Net Café (2008–2011), also adapted for TV. Oshimi reached international acclaims with The Flowers of Evil (2009–2014) and Inside Mari (2012–2016), both adapted into successful anime. Other notable works are Blood on the Tracks (2017–2023) and Welcome Back, Alice (2020-2023) .

Original review for volume 5- This series definitely takes a bit to get into and the art is a bit out there sometimes. But OMG it gets so freaking good! This started out as a 3 star series and has now advanced to a 5 star, I really hope it continues to be 5 stars! If it wasn’t 4am right now I would definitely continue right this second. Unfortunately sleep is a thing. Rude.
Original review for volume 6- The amount of times the characters said ‘oh’ was oh so excessive and oh so annoying. This volume was very slow compared to previous volumes and definitely felt like a ‘calm before the storm’ kinda book, so wasn’t 5 stars like I was hoping, but I definitely think the next volume has 5 star potential!
Original review for volume 8- OMG this volume was so messed up and so good. Made me feel all the emotions in such a short amount of time, disgust, horror, sadness, hopelessness, hope, happy, ugh this was so freaking good! Why oh why has kindle unlimited only got volumes 1-8?!!? I could cry, I wanna continue so badly! Probably a good thing I can’t continue right now since it’s almost 3am, but still! Ugh
Original review for volume 10- WOW! This series was so unbelievablely good!! It consumed my every thought, and all I wanted to do was read it. I haven't felt this way about a series since reading Chainsaw Man. There were so many highs and lows with this series, but I wouldn't change any of it; all the lows are needed to make the highs amazing. Ugh, so good. If you like vampires and horror, I would very highly recommend this series!
I'm a big fan of the books of Shuzo Oshimi I've so far read. His knack for writing about teen and early adult life, relationships and worries drew me in. So far the books I've read dealt with 2-3 mayor characters and their relationship(s) to one another. This book, as stated by him was meant to deal with a larger cast who weave in and out of one another's life. While his other books have also dealt with dark themes and personal struggle, Happiness was the first series of his that introduced violet crime and murder into its plot. The inclusion of a violent serial-killer was not a plot point I wanted to read about. The series just didn't have the same general aura is his other works I'm familiar with.
i love vampire media that is just unapologetically lurid and psychosexual, this was satisfyingly perverse (did go into torture porn territory here and there which is not to my liking lol). i’ve never read any oshimi before, but i wasn’t expecting such a beautiful and expressionistic art style! loved this. loved how weird and gory and at times so beautiful and touching it was.

I love Oshimi’s work - though I think this is one of his weaker series in terms of overall themes and narrative, his art work remains striking and on its own is an excellent vampire series.
Got to be one of my fav mangas EVER! It was absolutely crazy and very disturbing in a nice way, making you really think "wtf is going on.." Its so peak. 🔥🙏😼
