Allman offers clear, careful descriptions of radiation sickness. Explained are what radiation sickness is, under what conditions radiation sickness occurs, and how people cope with it. Treatment and prevention are discussed, as well as examples of notable cases of radiation sickness, which include scientist Marie Curie, but which fail to incorporate Japan’s disastrous 2011 nuclear breach in Fukishama.

Informative and factual, young researchers and debaters will find this a helpful volume. Included are quotation sources, an annotated bibliography, and a list of organizations to contact for additional exploration. Information is well-organized and intuitive. This is a solid addition to middle school collections.

Good intro to radiation based sickness. I like the explanation of different kinds of dose measurements and their units. Good starting place if you are interested in researching radiation based sicknesses.
