A massively detailed account of the life at sea of the most famous offshore pirate station of them all, Radio Caroline. The scope of the book isn't just limited to Caroline's travails; it covers the comings and goings of all the other major sea-borne broadcasters, and it explains the timeline of the off-shore pirates really well.
The amount of detail is probably enough to put off the casual reader, but anyone like me with a long-held interest in this area will love it. Caroline continues!
At school the stickers were familiar. Warning. It is illegal to listen to Radio Caroline on 319. Radio wa stuffy and staffed by military wallah from World War Two.
Radio Caroline changed all that. Nobody knew what was going on but I always wondered. Ralph Humphries tells the story in all the detail one could need in a way that's nice to read. It includes personal details, technical details and the sad end to it all.
There are several other books on this subject. Read this one.
