About the author

K.P. Purnachandra Tejaswi was a prominent Kannada writer, novelist, photographer, ornithologist, publisher, painter and environmentalist. He made a great impression in the "Navya" period of Kannada literature and and inaugurated the bandaya sahitya.

Tejaswi was born on September 8, 1938. His father is the famous poet, Rashtrakavi Kuvempu. He completed his education in Mysore. Tejaswi has written in almost all forms of literature including poems, short stories, novels, travel literature, plays and science fiction. He has translated several English books to Kannada. His famous translations include the series on Kenneth Anderson's hunting expeditions and Henri Charrière's Papillon.

He has won several awards for his contribution to literature such as the Rajyotsava and Kannada Sahitya Academy awards.

Story was good at some extend but i was disappointed with the way story ended. I like the author narrating style and love the way he describe nature. Book has suspense and mystery element too. All in all it was a good read.

ತೇಜಸ್ವಿ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳು ನನಗೆ nostalgic ಫೀಲ್ ಕೊಡ್ತವೆ, ಇವತ್ತು ಓದುವ ಹವ್ಯಾಸ ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವಂತ ಇದೆಯಂದರೆ ಅಥವಾ ಓದು ನನ್ನ ಜೀವನದ ಭಾಗ ಆಗಿದೆ ಅಂದರೆ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ತೇಜಸ್ವಿ ಅವರ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳ ಪ್ರಭಾವವೇ ಮೂಲ ಕಾರಣ, ಆರಂಭಿಕ ಓದನ್ನು ಸಾಣೆ ಹಿಡಿದ ಬರಹಗಳವು. ಆದರೆ ತೇಜಸ್ವಿರವರ ಕೆಲ ಕಥೆಗಳು (ಪಾಕಕ್ರಾಂತಿಯ ಕಥೆಗಳು), ಮಾಯಲೋಕ ಮತ್ತು ಚಿದಂಬರ ರಹಸ್ಯ ಅಷ್ಟಾಗಿ ಮನದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿಯಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಪಾಕಕ್ರಾಂತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾಯಲೋಕ ಮರು ಓದಿನಲ್ಲೂ ಇಳಿಯದೇ ಇದ್ದಾಗ ತೇಜಸ್ವಿರವರ ಸೋಲಿನ ಕೃತಿಗಳು ಎನಿಸಿತು.

ಆದರೆ ಚಿದಂಬರ ರಹಸ್ಯ ನನ್ನ ಆಗಿನ ಓದಿನ ಮಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನುಸುಳಲು ಆಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಈಗ ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕದ ಘನತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ತಲೆ ಭಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಭಾರತದ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಪಿಡುಗುಗಳಿಂದ ಒಂದು ಊರು ಮತ್ತು ಅದರ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಪ್ರಪಂಚ ಹೇಗೆ ನಶಿಸಿಹೋಗುತ್ತವೆ ಎಂಬುದೇ ಈ ಕಾದಂಬರಿಯ ವಸ್ತು. ಇದೇ ಗಂಭೀರ ವಸ್ತುವನ್ನು ಅದೆಷ್ಟು ಹಾಸ್ಯಮಯವಾಗಿ ವಿವರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಓದಿದವರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿದೇ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದೇ ವಸ್ತುವನ್ನು ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಅವನತಿ ಎಂಬ ಕಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಶಕ್ತವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಬಹುಷಃ ಅವರು ಚಿಕ್ಕಮಗಳೂರನ್ನು ಬಹು ಹತ್ತಿರದಿಂದ ನೋಡಿದ ಅನುಭವವೇ ಈ ವಸ್ತುವಿಗೆ ಮೂಲ ಪ್ರಭಾವವಿರಬಹುದು.

ಅವರು ನಂಬಿದ ಸಮಾಜವಾದದ ತತ್ತ್ವಗಳು ಕೂಡ ಅನೇಕ ಪಾತ್ರಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಧ್ವನಿಗೊಂಡಿವೆ. ಒಂದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಕೃತಿಯಿದು

ನಾನು ಇದೇ ಗುಡ್ ರೀಡರ್ ಗುಂಪಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಚಿದಂಬರ ರಹಸ್ಯ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ನೋಡಿದ್ದು ಇದು ಥ್ರಿಲ್ಲರ್ ಗುಂಪಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದೆ ಅನ್ನೋ ಒಂದೇ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಇದರ ಕಮೆಂಟ್ ಓದಿದೆ ಬೆಸ್ಟ್ ಥ್ರಿಲ್ಲರ್ ಅಂತ ಹಾಕಿದ್ರು ತೀರಾ ಓಡಿ ನೋಡಿದ್ರೆ ಒಂದ್ ಹಳ್ಳೀಲಿ ನಡೆಯ 4 ಜನ ಅರ್ಥ ವಿಲ್ಲದ ತರ್ಕಕ್ಕೆ ಉತ್ತರ ಉಡುಕೊ ಕಥೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಬೇಕು ಅಂತ ಸೆಟ್ ಮಾಡಿರೋ ತರ ಇದೆ ಒಂದಕ್ಕೊಂದು ಲಿಂಕ್ ಮಾಡೋಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ಇಡಿದಿ ಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ ವರೆತು ಇದು ಯಾವುದೇ ಥ್ರಿಲ್ಲರ್ ಅಲ್ಲ ಇನ್ನೂ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಸ್ಟಾರ್ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿರೋದು ನಾನು ಥ್ರಿಲ್ಲರ್ ಅನ್ನೋ ಬ್ರಮೇಲಿ ಓದಿದೆ ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಿರಾಸೆ ಮೂಡಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿರೋದು ಇದು ಒಂದ್ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಅಂತ ತಿಳಿದು ಓಡಿದೊರಿಗೆ ಥ್ರಿಲ್ ಆಗಿ ಇರುತ್ತೆ

The story about a place called Kesaruru where there is a considerable drop in the production of cardamom and the reasons behind that. And the rahasya is how and why did the scientist who was doing research on cardamom production suddenly died. Tejaswi describes how this turns into village politics, college "revolution" and finally into communal violence. Each of the characters whether it is Angadi - the CBI official, or the writer- Jayaram, or the student Rafi sound very realistic.

ತೇಜಸ್ವಿಯವರ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳು ಹೀಗೆ, ಓದುಗನನ್ನು ಒಂದು ವಸ್ತುನಿಷ್ಟ ಕತೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಹಿಡಿದಿಟ್ಟು, ಆ ಕತೆಯ ಓದಿನೊಂದಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಸುತ್ತ ಮುತ್ತ ಆಗಿಹೋದ, ಆಗುತ್ತಿರುವ, ಆಗಬಹುದಾದ ಸನ್ನಿವೇಶಗಳನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಹೋಗುತ್ತವೆ. ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕೆಲವು ವಿಚಾರಗಳನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಸಮಾಜದ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹೋಲಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಅವುಗಳ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣವೇನು ಮತ್ತು ಅವುಗಳ ಪರಿಹಾರಕ್ಕೆ, ಒಂದು ಸಮಾಜದ ಒಳತಿಗಾಗಿ, ಏನು ಮಾಡಬಹುದು ಎಂದು ಚಿಂತಿಸುವ ದಾರಿ ಈ ಚಿದಂಬರ ರಹಸ್ಯ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ.

ನನ್ನ ಹವ್ಯಾಸಿ ಓದಿಗೆ ಸೂರ್ತಿ ನೀಡಿದಂತಹ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೂ ಒಂದು; 'ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಜೀವ' ಹಾಗೂ 'ಆವರಣ'ಗಳು ಈ ನನ್ನ ಪಂಕ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿವೆ! ಚಿಕ್ಕಂದಿನಿಂದಲೂ ಸ್ಕೂಲಲ್ಲಿ ಆಗಿರಬಹುದು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಗಿರಬಹುದು ತೇಜಸ್ವಿ ಅವರ ಬಗೆಗೆ ಕೇಳುತ್ತಲೇ ಬೆಳೆದ್ದಿದ್ದೀನಿ. ನಾನು ಪಿ. ಯು. ಸಿ. ಓದುವ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಧರ್ಮಸ್ಥಳದ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನಕ್ಕೆ ಅಂತ ಹೋದಾಗ ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕವನ್ನ ಇಷ್ಟಪಟ್ಟು ಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೆ! ಆಗೆಲ್ಲಾ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳಿಗೆ ಎಷ್ಟು ರಿಯಾಯಿತಿ ಇರುತ್ತಿತ್ತು ಅಲ್ಲವೇ? ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ಅನ್ನುವ ಹಂಬಲ ಬೆಳೆದಿದ್ದೇ ಆಗ; ಆದರೆ ಆಗ ಖರ್ಚು ಮಾಡಲಾಗ್ತಿರ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ ಅಷ್ಟೇ! ಬಹುಶಃ ತೇಜಸ್ವಿ ಅವರು ಏನು ಅನ್ನೋ ಕ್ಲಾರಿಟಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದೇ ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಓದಿದ ನಂತರ. ಜೀರುಂಡೆ ಕುಟ್ರಕ್ಕಿಗಳ ಕಲರವದ ಸುತ್ತಲ ಕಾಫಿ ತೋಟದ ನಡುವಿನ ಮಲೆನಾಡಿನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂತು, ಕಾಫಿ ಹೀರುತ್ತಾ ತೇಜಸ್ವಿ ಅವರ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಓದುವ ಪುಣ್ಯ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿರಲಾರದು! (ಸ್ವಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠೆ ಅನ್ನಿಸಿದರೂ, ಕುವೆಂಪು ತೇಜಸ್ವಿ ಕಾರಂತರ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳಿಗೆ ಇದು ಸತ್ಯವೇ) ಇವೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕಾರಣಗಳಿಂದಾಗಿಯೇ ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಅಚ್ಚುಮೆಚ್ಚು! ಆದ್ದರಿಂದಲೇ ತೇಜಸ್ವಿ ಅಂದರೆ ಅವರ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳು ಅಂದರೆ ಎಲ್ಲಿಲ್ಲದ ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಮತ್ತು ನಾಸ್ಟಾಲ್ಜಿಯಾ! ಅವರ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳ ಪುಟಗಳನ್ನು ಎಂದೂ ಎಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ತಿರುವಿದರೂ ಮಲೆಯನಾಡಿಗೆ ಚೆಂದದ ಬೀಡಿಗೆ ಹೊಂಪುಳಿವೋಗುವ ಮನ! ಆದಷ್ಟು ಬೇಗ ಸಮಯ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ತೇಜಸ್ವಿ ಅವರ ಕೆಲವು ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳನ್ನ ಮರು ಓದಲು ಮನಸ್ಸು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಬಯಸುವುದು!

An essential read !!!

The phrase Chidambara Rahasya comes from the faith of Hindu belief that there is secret message embossed in the figure of Lord Shiva in Chidambaram temple in Tamil Nadu. Which is invisible to most.

Well this book bearing no connection what so ever to that temple, writer deliberately uses this as the title, because like it, there is a secret message hidden behind all the hoo-haa that happens in the periphery of this story. One needs to be politically unbiased, sensible and prudent to really understand that secret.

Its my first book from the writer and its work of class. Even though written in 1985, its still feels so relevant even to this day, which only proves the despair the author shown at the end of the book was right on the money.

The story takes place in a village called Kesarooru in the after math of a suspicious death of one of the research scientist investigating the drastic fall in the cardamom production. Panicked central govt who were happy until now benefiting from its large exports assigns Mr Angadi from CBI to investigate. With only a few days into investigation he realizes the whole village with its communal politics, pea brained thinking and their ability to hyperbolize a half truth or a lie with their colorful imagination for their self interest are rotten beyond repair and its far more poisonous than the rotten cardamom.

All told from multiple point of views ( which allows the reader to see exact truth of any event and outwardly interpretation of other characters to the same event) and with raw visceral humor author handles a very complex narrative and events with ease. We also see a Lynch's Twin Peaks style of working an investigation by Angadi when he allows a local writer cum fellow scientist to interpret the events from perspective of a fiction writer to get to the truth of mystery. (like how in twin peaks the investigator relies on his dream).
Its commendable what Tejaswi achieved in this book and its must be an essential read to all who read and understand Kannada. I believe much of its charm will be lost when translated to any language.

ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ವಯೋಸಹಜ ಗೊಂದಲ ಹಾಗೂ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವ ರಚನೆಯ ಉತ್ಕಟ ಹಂಬಲದ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರ ಕ್ರಾಂತಿಕಾರಿ ವಿಚಾರಧಾರೆಗಳಿಂದ ಕಥೆ ಆರಂಭವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ನೀರೆರೆಯುವ ಬುದ್ಧಿಜೀವಿಗಳು ಕಥೆಗೆ ಬಣ್ಣ ಹಚ್ಚುತ್ತಾ ಸಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಊರಿನ ಪಟೇಲ(ಕಥಾನಾಯಕಿಯ ತಂದೆ) ಯ ಮನೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಬೀಳುವ ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳು ಕಥೆಯನ್ನು ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ದಿಕ್ಕಿನತ್ತ ಬದಲಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
ಕಾಡಿನ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯ ಸಂಪತ್ತನ್ನು ಕದಿಯುವ ಮತ್ತು ಹಾಳುಗೆಡಹುವ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ವರ್ಗ ಕೆಸರೂರ ಪ್ರಾಕೃತಿಕ ಸಂಪತ್ತು ಕರಗಿಸುವುದರ ಜತೆಗೆ ಮುಂದೆ ನಡೆಯುವ ಅನಾಹುತದ ಬೆಂಕಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಸ್ವಾರ್ಥದ ಎಣ್ಣೆಯನ್ನು ಸುರಿಯುತ್ತಾ ಸಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಮೇಲ್ನೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಪತ್ತೇದಾರಿ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ಅನ್ನಿಸಿದರೂ ಈ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ಅತೀ ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತಿಕೆ, ಸ್ವಾರ್ಥ, ಲೋಭ, ಲಾಲಸೆ, ಮೌಢ್ಯತೆ ಇಡೀ ಸಮಾಜವನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ಬಲಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು ಎನ್ನುವ, ಚಿದಂಬರ ರಹಸ್ಯ ವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದರೂ ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆಗೆ ಅವಕಾಶಕೊಡದ ಜಾಣಕುರುಡು ಸಮಾಜದೆದುರು ಬಿಚ್ಚಿಡುವ ಕೃತಿಯಾಗಿದೆ.
ತಮ್ಮದೇ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ವಿಕಾರಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹೊಡೆದಾಡಿ, ಬೆಂಕಿಹಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಸಾವಿನಿಂದ ನಲುಗುವ ಇಡೀ ಊರಿನ ಜನ ಅಂಧಕಾರದ ಹೊಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಲುಕಿರುವಾಗ, ಸ್ನೇಹ-ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ಸೆಲೆಯಲಿ ಬಚಾವಾದ ಪಾತ್ರಧಾರಿ ತಾನಿತ್ತ ಎತ್ತರದ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರೆ ಉಳಿದವರು ಪ್ರಾಣ ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದಿತ್ತಲ್ಲಾ ಅನ್ನುವ ಕಾಳಜಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ 'ನಮಗೆ ಕಾಣ್ತಿದ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕಾಣ್ತದ? ಈ ಹೊಗೇಲಿ?' ಎನ್ನುವ ಮಾತು,ತತ್ವ ತುಂಬಿದ ಚಿದಂಬರ ರಹಸ್ಯ ಸೂಚ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಬಿಡಿಸಿ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ಸಮಾಪ್ತಿಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ.
ನಾ ಓದಿದರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಉತ್ತಮ ಕೃತಿ. ನಾನು ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ವರುಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುದ್ರಣಗೊಂಡಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಆ ಕಾಲಘಟ್ಟದ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಮನಸ್ಥಿತಿ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಕಾರಣ ಈ ಕೃತಿ ಕೈಗೆತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡೆ. ಓದಿ ಮುಗಿಸಿದ ನನಗೆ ತೇಜಸ್ವಿಯವರ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಬರಹಗಳನ್ನು ಓದುವ ಕುತೂಹಲ ಕೆರಳಿಸಿದೆ.

The central theme of the book is that each one of us has our own version of a story for everything, and we go through life trying to find events and experiences that fit that story.

This theme finds great relevance in today's social media infested world, where stories are plenty, and evidence supporting each story are in even greater numbers. Try approaching a much debated issue with a neutral mind, and you will suddenly notice extraordinarily well corroborated stories from either end. Try instead by already choosing to believe or to not believe in a story, and you will find increasingly convincing evidence for the same.

This is not a philosophical book in essence, this is what the book made me think about. Tejaswi's characters break into these sudden philosophical discourses, only to be abruptly brought back to reality. This is what he excels at. He is aware that he does not want to be preachy, and he does not want to bore anyone, yet his characters meander, and he promptly brings them back.

The setting, the language, the characters are the usual suspects. A village in Malnad, the diverse folks living in that village, a few inquisitive kinds, and a lot of humor. A very enjoyable read.

ಇದು ಒಂದು social thriller ಕಾದಂಬರಿ. ಮೊದಲ ಬಾರಿ ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಓದಿ ಹದಿನೈದು ವರ್ಷಗಳಾದವು. ಈಗ ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ಯೂಟ್ಯೂಬ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಡಿಯೋಬುಕ್ ಕೇಳಿದೆ. ಜುಗಾರಿ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ ನ ರೀತಿಯ tight narration ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣಸಿಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೂ ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಇಡೀ ಕೆಸರೂರಿನ ಅಷ್ಟೂ ಪಾತ್ರಗಳ ಮನಸ್ಥಿತಿಗಳು, ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಅವುಗಳ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಗಳು, ಜಾತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಧರ್ಮ ವೈಷಮ್ಯ, ಏಲಕ್ಕಿ ರಾಜಕಾರಣ, ಕಾಲೇಜು ಹುಡುಗರ ಕ್ರಾಂತಿಯ ಕಥೆ, ಹೀಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಇಡೀ ಕೆಸರೂರಿಗೆ ನಾವು ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರಾಗಿ ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆಯಾಗುತ್ತೇವೆ ಎಂದರೆ ತಪ್ಪಿಲ್ಲ. ಕೆಸರೂರಿನ ಅವಸಾನದಿಂದ ಕೊನೆಯಾಗುವ ಈ ಕಥೆ ಓದುಗರಿಗೆ ಹಲವಾರು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಪಾಠಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ.

Super interesting! Loved the ending! The whole story is based on the idea that each of us makes your own version of stories about what is happening in the world and we look for evidence that supports our version of the story.

The life in a small town in the western ghats, the complex interactions between communities is very well written. The book does makes you bored at certain points but the ending makes up for all the build up.

Looking forward to reading more books from Sri Poorchandra Tejaswi.

Pros:
1. Great book for storybook readers
2. Story about remote village castism and business frauds & politics, and in search of the murder case of the scientist.
3. Great book for bedtime readers

5. It's an old book so you don't get angry with the writer regarding comparing your cast and the story of villagers how the book is shown the reality of village people and their backward cast system. They write directly regarding castes.
6. You may realize how and why old backward village people converted to other religions themselves.
Conclusion:
1. Don't get over-excited or expect incredible things from this book just read it as it is, it's a great book with quite a good story, reality, and from a good story writer.
2. If love fiction books or story books it is worth buying.

A nice read for me as it was a kannada novel after so many years. Many chapters have a gripping story that kept me going. However, it did lag a bit in the middle.

In has all elements of a good movie, love story, religious disputes, invasion of foreign investors on India's farming, friendship, racism and more.

This novel narrates a story which gives mysterious clues about a past event and makes the reader laugh a lot using Malnad slang at multiple points. Tejasvi disappoints with the ending but this is a must read considering the main theme of the novel.
To explain in simple words, main theme is “Humans unknowingly try to build assumptions about stories that are usually heard and collect evidences supporting assumptions. But it is very hard to find the truth as the story witnessed by each individual is incomplete”

These lines have such a deep meaning, anyone who has read the book would be touched by those lines.

My first book of Poornachandra Tejaswi. Such a beautiful novel about a village that starts with a gang of half wit boys and their enthusiasm towards bringing a change in the society, a name for themselves, while also involved in petty fights, continued with a group of middle aged, a teacher, a writer, an investigating officer with their respective mature thoughts towards incidents happening in the village, also discussing things that need to be done for its betterment, a farmer worried about his wife, his daughter, his produce, mysterious happenings around his house, a young boy & girl in love least bothered about the happenings, only worried about each other, innumerous incidents involving communal violence, fight for political benefits, illogical beliefs etc.

The series of events are very well interconnected and arranged in chapters. Every new chapter I started made me curious about the events leading to it, how they might have already started in earlier chapters, kept me hooked till almost the end.

I felt very disappointed with the way it ended. Nevertheless, things in real life are more inclined to this ending rather than what an average reader would expect from a book. This shows how closely PooChanThe wanted to portray a small village, that's beautiful and touching.

A book so brave that it would not have been allowed to be published by todays society.
Tejaswi has written about a society that is building itself to go up on flames.
Initial 100 pages into the book makes one dizzy with so much unruly talks about everything, the choice of words seems unnecessary at times but then ones the pot starts boiling it hits you heard. It’s non-stop race to the end.
Tejaswi seems like a person who has seen society from outside, we who are part of society are like his characters, we are prejudice and we look out for those evidence that confirms it. Our belief is that our belief is correct and we make things in that belief.
One dialogue that will stay with me is -
Person who cannot understand the present will never understand the past.

The story, narrating is good. The book is a suspense thriller that goes through community, religion, ecological, research fields.

Since the title is Chidambara Rahasya, and the story kinda starts and linked all the characters with the intelligence agent Angadi. And slowly story starts opening towards community issues, religions, research etc.. I liked the experiment of including these aspects in detective story... As the story goes on other aspects became the main story and detective story became the side story.

If the story was ended with the Detective aspect with character Angadi, it would've been one of the best book for me.

This book was written in 1985 but resonates highly with today's world . One concept that i thoroughly enjoyed in this book is - every person has different stories of different events , basically we have soo many perspectives and ultimately , we are also living in a story and nobody knows our real story.. ughhh .. This book is soo deep and profound and end with numerous unanswered questions & sometimes i wonder even in our life something remain unanswered forever .. Lastly Tejasvi s love for Environment is quite obviously evident through this book . All in all a very profound and best and must read
