The essays in this collection were published in part or wholly as "Ruffin-It" column pieces in several newspapers over two decades. Hence, many of the pieces focus on people and events long out of the public mind. Many of the essays are factual in content, others pure fiction. And others begin as truth and continue that way a long time.
Had no idea who this author was. Turns out he lived the next town up the freeway from me, just miles away from my business. Alas, he passed away a few years back - I would have liked to have met him. The essays contained in this volume were mostly compiled from newspaper columns which he frequently was featured in. Thus the low-ish review. I want to check out his novels though, and possibly his poetry - he was Texas poet Laureate one year.
