When Jasmine the cat's family moves, they leave her behind! Jasmine heroically survives on birdseed and water from a leaky faucet for four months before the landlord discovers her. Jasmine is rushed to a local animal shelter where she receives veterinary treatment, some much needed food and water, and is eventually adopted into a happy home.

Jasmine is based upon a true story, and it is an unfortunate fact that pets are still abandoned in this way when their owners move. This book handles an issue of animal cruelty with sensitivity for its young audience.

Thos is truly a wonderful book, with a powerful message for young readers. I read this as a child, and it's always had an impression on me. Even after years went buy it would still come to mind long after I forgot the title, and mow I've finally found it again. I fully intend to get this for my neice and nephew as it provides an important lesson and leaves a forever impression on the young mind to be good and kind to animals. They are family and feel things too.
