不知道從啥時開始，就一直有個「第七艦隊」是美國最強武力的代表的印象，可能是小時候看高屋良樹的《強殖裝甲》(知道這漫畫的都代表有點年紀了)中劇情一段，反派組織克諾斯征服地球時，第七艦隊的全滅代表人類文明的全面淪陷吧。基於現實，日本漫畫家有此印象也不意外啦。畢竟這支代表美國在西太平洋利益的艦隊就長年駐紮於橫須賀。 這支艦隊跟台灣也息息相關，如果不是韓戰導致美國決心介入，並派遣第七艦隊長年巡弋，歷史早已然不同走向。而現在與未來，可以想見仍將持續影響本島的命運。因此，了解一下這支艦隊的來龍去脈，也是理所當然的。

剛翻開本書，見到排版，讓我想起了很多年前，風格司推出一系列圖文二戰、軍武專書，基本風格是相同的。作者是美國人，裡面內容不免偏向自己國家，對此反感的讀者建議不要自討苦吃了。

這本書我比較感興趣的是裡面提到的美國海軍的福利社。書中說裡面的商品應有盡有，甚至有時比在本土還多。稍微估狗一下，如今這些都變成了遺址。不過目前國軍的福利社，或者是全聯，無不是受此影響而生的產物。以前當兵就算了，退伍後偶爾還會想去逛逛，裡面感覺總有一些沒在一般通路上架的有趣商品等著被發現，而且現在好像也沒有糾結只賣給軍眷了。

總之，這是一本比較純軍事類的讀物，一般讀者可能會覺得枯燥吧。好處是圖片很多，也有許多跟台灣的連結(例如大陳島撤退)，有興趣的還可以找八旗的《看不見的屏障》來搭配一讀。

Asking amazon for refund. Poorly presented info with missing caps and unreconstructed paragraphs...Seems just thrown together. Photos missing. Layouts confusing. Seems to be series of short news articles without clear separation of sequence of events. Could be useful if formed into a book.
