One of the hardest things to do in life is to discover the place, feeling, or person who helps get you centered and on the right path. Sarah hopes her move to Maine is just the thing her dysfunctional life needs. Within hours of arriving, she befriends a dog and makes an enemy of Hank, a man going down the wrong path. Over the next few years, Sarah finds the friends she wanted and the family she'd longed for.
Had a lot of fun reading this aloud to my 90 year-old mother who grew up right in the middle of these stories (same place and time). She has lived in the south for many many decades and enjoyed my attempts to get the accent good and strong. We had some great deep belly laughs at the funny stories even though we are 1,200 miles apart and our reading visits were done entirely over Zoom. The jokes are old now - but spellcheck just turned old to gold, and for once, I agree.
This is more of a joke book than a story but it's still funny.
Great little read but instead of thinking you should read it continuously, I suggest you use this while waiting for the doctor, or while you are having your oil changed.
