The Yellow Bathrobe

Rate this book
Yes, William Kennedy is a genius but there are a couple of things he missed when writing about Albany. One of them is Annie Decker’s mother. The Yellow Bathrobe will round out your understanding of Albany, NY and your understanding of family and community and culture in Upstate New York.

Decker is an extraordinary writer and memoirist and in these essays she’ll walk you through her childhood and adulthood in a way that will make you examine yours as never before. You’ll laugh a lot—she’s wicked funny, but within that humor is compelling humanity with all the love and heartbreak we know. These essays will make you laugh and cry and think.

But fair Each time I’d sit to read one of Decker’s essays I’d plan to stop for the night, but then I could not NOT keep turning the page—wanting one more, just one more.

—Diane Cameron, author of Never Leave Your Dead and Looking for Signs.

Anne Decker lives and writes in Albany, New York. Her work has appeared in local magazines and newspapers, on local radio and on NPR. Her first degree was in Pharmacy and she enjoyed working with her legal drugs and the people who needed them, but longed to write about things she experienced. Given the chance, she earned an MFA from Bennington College and wrote happily ever after.
