Hi, I'm Liz Fielding, and I'm a best selling contemporary romance author with more than 15 million books in print and Katie Fforde wrote, when honouring me with the Romantic Novelists' Association's Outstanding Achievement Award in 2019 said - "Liz Fielding's books, with their warmth, humour and emotion, have charmed millions of readers. She is a true star of the romantic fiction genre..."
And now I've turned to a life of crime with my first cozy mystery. Murder Among the Roses, published on 18 April 2023 - of which Katie Fforde also said, "I was gripped from beginning to end..."
Reading is a big part of my life. I love witty, contemporary romances, not too much sex,, Women's fiction by the likes of Fiona Harper, Julie Cohen, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Jennifer Crusie and Barbara O'Neal. And I love crime fiction that isn't too gory, or focussed on clue hunting, but is big on character.
My best loved series at the moment are the Ruth Galloway series by Elly Griffiths, The Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch and the Libby Sarjeant Mysteries by Lesley Cookman. I've just read the first in the Georgina Drake crime series from Kate Hardy and looking forward to the next.

I loved this story and it made me cry. It had everything I want in a reunion romance.
Six years ago, Matt and Fleur were in love but because of a family feud, they couldn't openly court and get married. So they decided to elope and then tell their families. Little did they know that old sins were about to come back and everything they hoped for would become impossible.
Now Matt is back from eastern Europe where he's been building a thriving business on his own while Fleur is barely hanging onto her family business with a father who has retreated from responsibility and her five year old son needing her. As if that hadn't been bad enough, Matt's mother has been doing her best to push them out over the years while becoming wildly successful as a garden centre entrepreneur.
After no contact for nearly six years, you can imagine Matt and Fleur have a lot to talk about, particularly their son. There is a lot of anger and resentment on both sides. Fleur feels Matt abandoned her and he resents that she chose to stay and help her family rather than go with him.
Both of them have a lot to learn and they have both grown up and matured over the six years they were apart. But neither forgot each other, or their vows over the years.
I loved this story. There isn't much else to say. It hit all my emotional needs for a story of this type and the ending was very satisfying.
If you like Mills and Boons then this is a good story. Its a tender romance, so not so much of the hot stuff in it. But still stirs up some feelings and emotions.
I enjoyed this read, with a bit of a twist at the end and it's happy ending.
Only thing I found, maybe weird in the author's writing style is she'd have dialogue of the same person, and as they paused or something, she'd put 'then' and continue with the speech. I actually found that more jarring than if maybe she'd just used a beat or not even bothered with the then, and kept the dialogue going.
While the story is well written the whole premiss that Fleur was guilty of keeping Matt from his son, when he is the one who deserted her, and he would have anything to threaten her with in court was ridiculous.
Pure Gold. This was a great story, it is one of those stories you don't want to miss out on reading so hit the stores and find this book and get to reading
