The idea for this book was great but the execution was (pardon the pun for a book about water) dry as a bone! It felt like I'd been trapped at the corner table of an olde pub with a guy who just bombarded me with facts about the river, weirs, locks and historical figures. The tone was a little droning.
Great black and white photos to illustrate changes (or the lack of) from one time period on the river to the next. But the text is tedious. I was disappointed as I do love me a good book about a river.
I'm gonna leave it in my community book exchange and see if anyone else can get enjoyment from it.
